Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Jeremiah in Manhattan, NY
The student and I began our session with reading as usual. We started a new unit in his book, unit two, which deals with sequence words, more writing, and longer reading passages. One of the sections instructed the student to brainstorm and to compose a paragraph about an invention. After this, we moved on to some reading passages. When we were done with reading, we worked on math. I gave him some long division problems. After demonstrating that he had mastered them, I had him move on to fractions and factors. He is doing very well in both reading and math.

Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Karin in Manhattan, NY
The student and I continued to read her novel and take notes and write definitions of words she is not familiar with. We read a story about city gardens and worked on some comprehension questions. She is doing well and is working on trying to read a bit slower. We then switched over to math and practiced her multiplication tables and worked on some more word problems. She is doing a good job with determining which operation to use to solve it. She is also doing well with 2 and 3 digit multiplication. We will meet again tomorrow, but will only meet for one hour.

Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Tate in Manhattan, NY
Student is doing very well with his organizational skills. We reviewed his planner, to-do lists, and goals for what he needs to get done for school. I had him finish his biology enrichment paper we started last week, and he said that he would get it turned into his teacher. He has an AP history essay due on Friday so we went over his introduction paragraph and planned out the structure of the remainder of his essay. We will review/edit his paper on Thursday when we meet so the paper will be ready to submit on Friday. We spent the remainder of the time brainstorming and beginning a project for his math class. He needs to put together a "Pi Day Project" by March 20 and it will be worth 100 points (the equivalent of one exam). I was pleased with his work and progress.

Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Winnie in Manhattan, NY
We covered history and math. We focused on finishing the student's notecards for his history oral project. For math, we reviewed basic formulas (including area and volume of various shapes) for his upcoming high school placement exam. We also reviewed various terminology, including: mean, median and mode, Pythagorean theorem, complementary and supplementary angles. I hope to continue working on his math skills so he will be better prepared for his upcoming exam.
