Mr. D. was able to keep my daughter engaged and interested the entire session. He made her feel confident with reading. She stated that he was the "best teacher in the world". She gave him two thumbs up and a heart. I'm very pleased with my investment towards my child's education using Varsity Tutors.

Do they have an IEP or 504 plan? (We have tutors that specialize in learning differences)

The tutor that was paired with my daughter was perfect and fits Bella's needs. Bella struggles with attention and has been on a 504 plan for years. The tools used, the interaction and flexibility are priceless. I was hesitant at first but now I'd do it again and I recommend Varsity Tutors!!

SAT Reading Tutoring review by Travis in Charlotte, NC
The student and I started with vocab and made a few more mnemonic devices. He had some questions about ancient warfare, and I explained the difference between a Greek phalanx and a Roman legion. We then did math, and I had him do several exponential growth/decay questions that also involved logarithms. Next time, I will teach him about quadratics and transformations of quadratic functions.

SAT Reading Tutoring review by Phoebe in Charlotte, NC
The student didn't have time to do any studying in between sessions. Today, the practice questions were heavily "Except" questions, and they shook his confidence. Identifying the actual question stem and the scope of said question - harkening back to previous discussions of reading the ENTIRE QUESTION and to know what it's asking - is critical to success on tests, and this test is really tricky. It will include ancillary information in the question stem that actually doesn't affect the answer, but draws the tester's attention away from the question focus. He also needs to effectively use the notation system.

SAT Reading Tutoring review by Adriane in Charlotte, NC
The student finished her reading homework very quickly today, so we started working on a new book about animals. She is basing this one on a video game, with animals compared according to strength meters shaped like video game health bars. Writing her own material really gets her interested in spelling words correctly!

SAT Reading Tutoring review by Julian in Charlotte, NC
The student is a fast learner and is coming along nicely with the test. He mainly needs to work on getting better acquainted with the buzzwords that appear on the test, like modeling and tracking. He also could get better at skipping questions that eat up large amounts of his time.

SAT Reading Tutoring review by Jaymi in Charlotte, NC
The student is doing a bit better at the reading comprehension questions. She answered more questions correctly on her homework than the week before, and she got a few more answers correct on timed passages we worked on. Her math is improving significantly. Her scores have gone up markedly since the first session, and she seems to have a much better grasp on fractions, decimals, and percents than she initially reported.

SAT Reading Tutoring review by Gaurav in Charlotte, NC
The student is done with content and will only review high-yield areas of weakness like neurology. We came up with a solid list of tasks he needs to accomplish during the test: read slowly, read all answers, figure out what is asked, reread as needed, take breaks, watch for distractors, and go with his first gut.
