Work With The Perfect Tutor For You

All Charlotte tutors possess the highest qualifications. In addition to completing a rigorous interview process, tutors in Charlotte, NC must pass a background check and have academic credentials verified. An expert director will help you find the best tutor from this elite group; we stand behind these matches and even offer a money-back guarantee.

Exceptional tutors individualize all lessons to address students' specific academic needs. Tutors provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring in the comfort of your home, online, or wherever is convenient for you.

How much will it cost to meet with a private tutor in Charlotte?

The price associated with meeting a tutor in Charlotte depends on your or your student's specific needs, including what you want to cover, how often you'd like to study, your location, and more. For instance, tutoring for a student studying world history at Myers Park High School may be a different price than tutoring for a college student exploring the role Egypt played in antiquity.

Likewise, a student who opts for regular study sessions every Thursday after class may pay a different rate than a student with a more sporadic study schedule.

The size of your study group can also affect what you pay per hour. Many students automatically associate tutoring with studying in a 1:1 setting. This allows your tutor in Charlotte to concentrate exclusively on your unique areas of opportunity. However, many instructors also offer group tutoring sessions so that classmates can study together. Both options can help students reach for their goals more effectively, so choose whichever most appeals to you.

Another common misconception is that tutoring is only for students who are falling behind their peers. While a private tutor can certainly help you overcome any learning obstacles you encounter, many students invest in a private tutor because they want a more advanced curriculum than their classroom teacher provides. Please reach out to one of our friendly Educational Directors to learn more about what the tutoring services you're interested in might cost.

What's the easiest way to find a private tutor in Charlotte?

If you tried to find your own tutor in Charlotte, you would be responsible for ensuring that the instructor you choose truly understands the material you're studying, knows how to effectively share that info with students like you, and can meet you when you're available. It's honestly a lot of hassle if you don't know what you're doing.

Thankfully, the experts at Varsity Tutors know exactly what we're doing. Our database includes 40,000+ certified tutors, allowing us to match students at all levels with a private instructor who suits their needs in as little as 24 hours. If you're interested in working with an instructor who has an advanced degree in education, we can set that up for you. If your child is shy, we'll find you a tutor who is great at getting kids to open up about their academic needs. Just tell us what you need and let us handle the legwork.

We can even connect you with a Charlotte tutor you can study alongside without leaving the comfort of home. For example, our Live Learning Platform leverages powerful features such as a virtual whiteboard and a shared document editor to facilitate face-to-face study sessions anywhere with a good internet connection. It also records every study session automatically, so you can go back for a refresher on functions or another topic at your leisure. It doesn't get much more convenient than that.

What kinds of tutoring are offered in Charlotte?

We take pride in our ability to find a qualified tutor in Charlotte for any topic you can think of. If your young learner is studying how to count money at a local grammar school like Gold Hill Elementary School, we'll refer you to an instructor who knows how to use visual aids to bring these concepts to life.

If you're studying biochemistry at a local institution such as the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, we'll match you with a tutor who has firsthand experience with the program's rigorous curriculum.

A private tutor can also provide an extra edge with your standardized test prep. If you're finishing up at a local secondary school such as Ardrey Kell High School and you're looking forward to the next phase of your life, a tutor can help you prepare for the ACT or SAT. Similarly, we will find you expert assistance for graduate-level exams such as the LSAT and GMAT. We'll even connect you with an expert in one of the hundreds of professional certifications available today.

A private teacher in Charlotte can also help you homeschool your kids. If your knowledge of a particular topic isn't deep enough, a tutor can step in and present it for you. A private tutor can also show you how to grade your student's work objectively, helping them fix any errors they might've made. The Learning Lab also provides a variety of great self-study resources, including instructional videos and adaptive assessments to help you monitor your student's progress. Homeschooling can be challenging, but your child can make real progress with the right support in place.

How does Varsity Tutors select tutors in Charlotte?

Very few candidates make it through the Varsity Tutors screening process, so you can trust that the instructor we recommend to you is well-qualified to help you reach for your full academic potential. We begin by verifying that each prospective Charlotte tutor has the expertise expected of a great instructor, equipping them to address student questions in a timely manner.

We also look at each candidate's communication skills, as knowing something and effectively explaining it to somebody else can be two very different things.

We also look for skills that you may not automatically consider when thinking about a tutor. For instance, instructors who have great personalities are able to connect with students in a way other instructors generally cannot. We also look for flexible tutors who aren't afraid of scrapping their entire lesson plan if their pupil is progressing more quickly or slowly than originally expected. These intangibles distinguish a good tutoring experience from a great one.

Varsity Tutors is ready to find you or your student a qualified private teacher in Charlotte today, but you have to make the first move. The Charlotte School System

Charlotte, North Carolina, is the most populous city in the state, boasting almost 860,000 residents. The greater metropolitan area has a population of about 2.6 million and is regarded as the fastest growing metro area in the nation. The majority of the city’s estimated 148,000 students attend the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) district, which supervises more than 160 public schools.

Varsity Tutors can help your child from the first day of kindergarten all the way through college graduation. It’s vital that students receive the academic support they need to reach their learning potential at all stages of their learning journey.

If you’re curious how well the schools in your area are preparing their students, take a look at the table below.

Charlotte Test Scores

Students throughout the nation face similar exams such as the SAT and ACT as they approach the end of their high school careers. Students in Charlotte, however, must also prepare for various End of Grade (EOG) exams as early as third grade. These exams test students' mastery of the concepts they learned during the current school year and are given every year through eighth grade. Once students reach high school, they face a more extensive range of EOG exams, which can include math, biology, economics, algebra 1, English, civics and economics, chemistry, and others.

Private tutors can help your child prepare for any of the standardized exams they will face throughout their school years, but a professional tutor in Charlotte can do so much more! When your child meets a new concept that they can’t master, it can negatively impact their confidence. By working with a tutor, your child becomes more aware that all children have different learning styles, and this can help them grow more accepting of themselves when they struggle. This boost of confidence can be pivotal in helping a child learn to persevere even when faced with academic adversity

When you live in a large city such as Charlotte, it can be easy to assume that the sheer size of the educational system should ensure high-quality education. However, this is not always the case. Even the city’s most highly ranked schools don't stand out when compared to the rest of the state. The table below outlines how the best schools in the city compare to those in the rest of the state.

Tutoring review by Jeong Hwa Emily in Charlotte, NC
The student and I worked on a summer science writing assignment. We read through an assigned article, talked about the main points, and started writing the first portion of the assignment. She will continue to work on this assignment at our next session. She seemed very interested in the topic and eager to work on the assignment. She asked many questions and was very enthused to work on the assignment next week.

We reviewed, discussed, and made changes to the essay outline that the student had worked on. We talked about how to keep the essay within the word limit, readable, and understandable to its readers - as well as creative and compelling. Simplify and streamline. We discussed the first draft as well as some of the essays that he has written before, that I had the chance to read, as well as an online op/ed. He plans to write a first draft, which we will discuss tomorrow.

Today we reviewed the quadratic equations again. The student's class had not done well on the exam, so the teacher wanted to go over the material again. After reviewing the concepts, we focused on using the calculator to most efficiently solve the problems. This allowed her to more easily appreciate the symmetry inherent in the problems as well.

The student is currently getting an 84 in the class. I made a set of flashcards where it would give her an Element symbol and she needed to type the name and number that corresponded to dividing the periodic table into 4 quadrants. The next thing we did was go back over her structure of an atom. We went back over how the number of protons defines the atom like a name or a person. Electrons dictate charge so a neutral atom has the same number of protons and electrons and ions (cations, +) have one less electron and (anions -) have one more electron. Isotopes differ in neutrons thus mass number. This is important because this is how we define reactivity. We went over valence electrons, shielding, nuclear charge and how those related to electronegativity and atomic radius. I think the first half stuck and the second half was a solid start.
