We went over another practice test. I am very confident that she will perform well given that she gets enough rest, eats a good breakfast and feels confident going into the exam.

SAT Math Tutoring review by Fese in Charlotte, NC
We completed several math sections together using a practice test book. We spent most of the time completing easy and medium difficulty problems, in order to focus on getting the most amount of answers correct to reach her target score. She struggled mostly on geometry and algebra problems. I showed her how plugging in numbers for variables can help simplify the algebra problems she was struggling with. We also reviewed geometry shapes and equations. The test is on Saturday, so she will continue to practice on her own using the online tools. Overall, it was a good session.

SAT Math Tutoring review by Neehad in Charlotte, NC
Today was my first session with this student and I took almost all of the session to see where she stands. I made her a math section from the exams that were in her book. From that I observed that she has trouble with methods that are not taught in math classes in school. The reason for that is simple--she has not had much practice with SAT material. But, the good thing is that she is very willing to learn. I touched on exponents and different aspects of it, which she wasn't very familiar with. Also, we got to cover functions, which led me to cover lines and parabolas. I gave her homework to work on the section that follows the one we worked on during the session.

SAT Math Tutoring review by Charles in Charlotte, NC
The student and I worked on inequalities and graphing them. After, we worked on a few practice problems. I would recommend her working on these concepts every time before each session. She has some difficulty with the more wordy problems, so I found it best to make her read it aloud.

SAT Math Tutoring review by Roy in Charlotte, NC
During this session we continued to work on practice problems on geometry and probability. I chose geometry problems that mainly required the identification of one of the two special right triangles in the problem. These triangles have a quick way of identifying the relative lengths of their sides, which is given to students during the test. Finding important lengths quickly is a good way to shave off time on problems. For probability, I used a visual way of diagramming the problem that will hopefully make it easier to understand how to calculate the number of permutations. We also discussed the relationship between the slopes of parallel and perpendicular lines.
