What does a San Francisco MCAT class cover?

An MCAT class covers all areas of this complex medical school admissions exam. The MCAT is a standardized, computer-based, multiple-choice exam. The test includes four sections, and has a total time limit of 6 hours and 15 minutes. The first portion is the Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems section, which includes 59 questions and takes 95 minutes to complete. Next is the Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills section, which is timed at 90 minutes and features 53 questions. The following section is the Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems portion, which includes 59 questions and takes 95 minutes to complete. The last section of the MCAT is the Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior section, which includes 59 questions and allows 95 minutes for completion.

The Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems section asks 10 passage-based sets of questions with four to six questions per set, and 15 independent questions. This portion of the MCAT focuses on the basic chemical and physical principles of living systems, chemical and physical principles that underlie the mechanisms operating in the human body, and the functions of the human body's tissues, organs, and organ systems. If you don't feel confident in this portion of the MCAT, you could increase your confidence with help from a San Francisco MCAT prep course. In a course, you could learn how the mechanical, physical, and biochemical functions of human organ systems relate to the laws of physics. Additionally, you can brush up on your knowledge of chemical reactions and the Periodic Table of Elements to feel as confident and well-rounded as possible come test time.

The next portion of the MCAT, the Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills section, asks nine passage-based sets of questions, with five to seven questions per passage. As you study for this section, you should review your reading and comprehension skills. Your results on this section of the MCAT show universities your abilities to understand basic components of a text, your understanding of applying or extrapolating ideas from a passage to new contexts, and your skills related to inferring meaning from compositional elements.

Up next is the Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems section. Here, you will receive 10 passage-based sets of questions with four to six questions per set, as well as 15 independent questions. The section focuses on processes that are unique to living organisms, as well as biological and biochemical foundational concepts and scientific inquiry and reasoning skills. To study for this section, consider a San Francisco MCAT class that could help you grow your confidence in organ systems, reproduction, and internal environments.

The final section of the MCAT is Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior. This portion of the exam covers human behaviors, environmental influences, mental health, and other subjects related to behavioral medicine. Test-takers will be tested on their understanding of introductory sociology, introductory psychology, and biology, so think about signing up for an MCAT course to review these materials and grow your understanding of this section.
