Varsity Tutors can help you find Raleigh-Durham USMLE prep that can help you study for the exam more efficiently. Many students struggle with the United States Medical Licensing Exam, or USMLE for short. Not only is it comprehensive and incredibly challenging, most people feel a lot of pressure to perform well so they can start practicing medicine. Even students from top medical schools in North Carolina like the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine, Duke University School of Medicine, and Wake Forest University Medical School have benefitted from supplemental courses to help them prepare for the USMLE.
What concepts will be covered during Raleigh-Durham USMLE prep?
Are you looking for a platform where you can receive help designed specifically for the licensing exams? If so, the Raleigh-Durham USMLE prep options are perfect for you. There are two options you can choose: studying in an online classroom or working with a private tutor. Both methods of instruction have their own advantages, but regardless of which you choose, you'll be able to prepare for everything on your exams. Let's look at what these prep programs cover.
The USMLE is divided into three different exams, known as Steps. Each Step covers a different aspect of medicine and procedure, and when combined, the exams assess everything you need to know before practicing medicine. Step 1 consists of 280 multiple-choice questions which are divided into seven blocks of 60 minutes. Here, you'll be assessed on basic scientific concepts that are applied in medicine. Step 2 evaluates your Clinical Knowledge and how you apply your Clinical Skills. The test is broken up into two sections, and it will take you a day to complete each section. For the Clinical Skills portion of Step 2, you'll have 15 minutes to look at 12 patient cases, plus an additional 10 minutes to record notes for each patient. It's common for students to become intimidated with this portion of the exam due to its fast-paced nature which is why it's important to approach test day confident and prepared.
Step 3 is also administered over two days and looks further at your ability to apply basic scientific and medical principles in a practical real-world setting. You want to adequately prepare for this portion of the exam, as your performance on Step 3 is used when assessing whether you have the skills and expertise to practice medicine unsupervised.
What are the benefits of the different types of Raleigh-Durham USMLE prep?
Choosing the right program for you depends on your own goals, expectations, and learning preferences. If you're someone who enjoys collaborating in an interactive learning environment, you might want to enroll in a Raleigh-Durham USMLE prep class. Here, you'll study all the important concepts covered on the exam like behavioral health and the male and female reproductive system, under the guidance of a professional instructor. Classes are conducted online through our Live Learning Platform and include video chats and virtual whiteboards. Here, you'll be studying alongside other students preparing for the exam. This gives you an opportunity to connect with your peers, share ideas, and work together to solve difficult problems.
If you're looking for something a bit more personal, let us set you up with a Raleigh-Durham USMLE tutor who can give you private instruction. This is great for people who prefer learning in a one-on-one setting or need a custom-tailored study program. One of the biggest advantages of private lessons is the ability to customize your sessions. Your tutor can build entire lessons that cater to your preferred learning styles, as well as spend extra time helping you overcome your weaknesses. That means you can devote entire lessons to challenging concepts like the cardiovascular system or biostatistics while skipping over concepts you already know.
Regardless of which program you choose, enrolling in a USMLE prep course can help you build your confidence and strengthen your understanding of key medical concepts.
