In this session, I continued helping the student with preparing for her quiz in geometry, particularly on using distance formula, introduction concepts of circles such as arc length, areas of sectors in the circles, and Pythagorean theorem. She was able to solve problems involving the application of distance formula, but struggled with proof problems as well as circle problems, so I helped her step-by-step with those problems until she felt confident and understood how to solve them. Whenever applicable, I provided problem solving strategies and shortcuts. At the end of our session, I went over a couple problems briefly and left them for her to be solved as extra practice. Our session was productive and went well.

We continued working on solving triangles using the Pythagorean formula and also worked on simplifying radicals. The student has missed some time at school and needs to get clarification on which material she hasn't covered.

Geometry Tutoring review by Trieu in Bellflower, CA
The student and I worked together to complete his homework, which covered circles, inscribed angles, and polygons. We defined major arcs, minor arcs, inscribed angle and the intercepted arcs in a given circle. The following theorems are some of the key concepts that were discussed: 1. The measure of an inscribed angle is one half the measure of its intercepted arc. 2. If two inscribed angles of a circle intercept the same arc, then the angles are congruent. 3. If a right triangle is inscribed in a circle, then the hypotenuse is a diameter of the circle. 4. A quadrilateral can be inscribed in a circle if and only if its opposite angels are supplementary (180 degrees).

Geometry Tutoring review by Robyn in Bellflower, CA
The student and I met on a Saturday to prepare for a quiz over probability the following Monday. The student and I worked several practice problems and I had him explain to me many times when he should use conditional probability, the multiplication rule, etc. Overall, the student is doing very well with this material, though sometimes he has difficulty with conditional probability on some problems, though not on others. We identified key words such as "given" to help him out in those situations.

Geometry Tutoring review by Aunaly in Bellflower, CA
Today we reviewed material for the student's upcoming state exams. The topic today was estimating square roots and then placing a series of numbers into order. We also worked on her review sheets for physics. The problems we worked described an experiment that modeled how Earth is warmed by the Sun. She easily answers multiple choice questions pertaining to the experiment. However, she has a tendency to quickly answer the written ones without going into much detail, which we are continuing to work on.
