What can Columbus ACT prep cover?
The ACT has four mandatory sections you will need to take. The sections include English, Math, Reading, and Science. The ACT also has a Writing section that is optional as well. The test will take nearly 3 hours if you opt out of the Writing section. If you opt into the Writing section, you can add an additional 40 minutes to the test. Testing starts at 8:00 AM sharp. Testing will end around 12:35 PM if you don't take the Writing section. It will end at 1:35 PM if you do take the Writing section. We will now go more into detail of what you can expect during the individual sections.
You will have 45 minutes to complete 75 questions for the English portion of the ACT. You will need to use your time effectively in order to answer all of the questions within this time frame. You will be required to read short passages and answer multiple-choice questions on editing or revising the text from the various passages, writing style, tone, and grammar.
You will have 60 minutes to complete 60 questions for the Math section. The math section is multiple choice. They will be testing your knowledge from the following subject classes: trigonometry, coordinate geometry, plane geometry, pre-algebra, elementary algebra, and intermediate algebra. Even if you do not know the answer to these question it is better to guess than to leave the answer blank.
You will have 35 minutes to complete 40 questions for the Reading Section. In the Reading section, you will be reading passages just like the English section. You will be tested on your reading comprehension to see if you can distinguish between facts and opinions, determine word and phrase meanings, and if you can make connections between passages.
You will have 35 minutes to complete 40 questions for the Science section. The Science section will include topics that you've learned in biology, Earth and space science, chemistry, and physics. The questions in this section will be multiple-choice. You will be answering questions that will test you on your reasoning, scientific analysis, and problem-solving.
Earlier we mentioned that the Writing portion is optional. You will have 40 minutes to complete this optional portion of the test. You are only permitted to use a #2 pencil. Your essay must be handwritten. You will need to craft a well-developed, logically supported essay on the provided prompt.
What are the benefits of different types of Columbus ACT prep?
This is where Varsity Tutors comes in. We can help connect you with two great resources when it comes to ACT prep. We can get you in touch with a private tutor or help you get enrolled in a prep course. Both options offer students many great benefits. Let's discuss how the Columbus ACT tutor sessions or a prep class can further help you prepare for the exam. For those who are interested in taking the ACT prep class, you will be glad to hear that the prep class is online and fully interactive. There are new classes that start every week. You will have the option to either choose from a two-week course or a four-week course. When taking the Columbus ACT prep class, you will have the benefit of learning what will be on the exam from an expert instructor.
As previously mentioned, the prep classes are based online. This will not only allow you to communicate with your instructor, but you will also be able to collaborate on group discussions with your peers. The bonus of taking a Columbus ACT course is that you can schedule one-on-one talks you can have with the instructor. This is where you will have the chance to discuss concepts you may not quite understand in a more intimate environment.
If you are not a group learner and would rather have more personal interaction, we can help you find a Columbus ACT prep tutor. By choosing to work with a private instructor, you will have the opportunity to not only work in a more focused environment, but also have the sessions tailored to your needs. Your instructor can come up with a plan that abides by your learning style, what your weaknesses and strengths are, and what you ultimately want to review.
