We require the most rigorous qualifications of Columbus tutors, in addition to a background check. Only a tiny fraction of those candidates who apply ultimately make it through our demanding interview process. From this elite group, an expert director will help you find the best tutor to meet your individual needs – and we stand behind your satisfaction with our money-back guarantee.

Personalized lessons help you learn best in an environment where you're comfortable, on your own schedule, both in-home or online.

Is meeting with a private tutor in Columbus affordable?

The price of meeting with a certified Columbus tutor depends on the specific services you or your student are looking for. For example, it makes sense that tutoring for a student learning how to work with number lines at Wyandot Elementary School would be billed at a different rate than tutoring for a college student majoring in Education.

Similarly, you may pay a different price if you follow a set study schedule as opposed to meeting with a tutor on an as-needed basis.

Who you study with can also affect what you pay. Students often associate tutoring with studying in a 1:1 learning environment, but many instructors also offer small group tutoring sessions so that classmates can study together. Both options can be great ways for a student to receive the academic support they need. Varsity Tutors even provides small group courses if you're looking for a cost-effective supplement to private tutoring.

Whether your student is falling behind their classmates or you're just not finding school stimulating enough, a tutor in Columbus can provide the support you're looking for. Simply contact one of our friendly Educational Directors online or by phone for more specific pricing information tailored to your needs.

Can I get help finding a private tutor in Columbus?

If you tried to find a well-qualified tutor in Columbus by yourself, you would be solely responsible for verifying that each candidate understands the material you're reviewing, knows how to share that info with others, and can accommodate your scheduling needs. It can be a lot of work, and the typical person is too busy to add it to their plate.

That's where Varsity Tutors comes into play. Our network includes more than 40,000 private tutors, allowing us to find a great fit for any student in as little as 24 hours. If you're having a tough time relating novels like Animal Farm with their historical context, we'll connect you with somebody who can engagingly present the information. If you're struggling to manipulate your graphing calculator in a mathematics course at a school like Dublin Scioto High School, we'll find you a tutor who can provide helpful explanations and additional practice problems to help you get the hang of it.

We can even set you up with a Columbus tutor you can study alongside without leaving the house. Our Live Learning Platform is a mobile-friendly classroom allowing students to study anyplace with a reliable internet connection, including their bedroom or school library. It records every session automatically, so you can go back for a refresher on anything you've studied previously. Furthermore, you can review your student's sessions to monitor how they are faring.

What are the options for tutoring offered in Columbus?

Our network of private tutors includes experts in more than 3,000 content areas, so we can help students studying standard subjects like math and science and more complex topics like C++ coding. If you need help with a U.S.

Government course at Dublin Coffman High School, your instructor can use charts and graphs to help you analyze national voting trends. If you're writing a research paper for a course at Capital University, your instructor can help you format your Works Cited page correctly. Just tell us what you're looking for and let our experts handle the rest.

That goes for standardized exams as well. If you're preparing for the PSAT, a tutor in Columbus can administer practice tests under realistic test-taking conditions to give you an idea of your academic strengths and any areas of opportunity for improvement. The same goes for the ACT, GMAT, LSAT, and nearly any other exam you can think of. We can even refer you to professional certification tutoring if you're searching for a competitive edge in the job market.

A private teacher in Columbus can also provide valuable assistance if you homeschool your children. For example, a tutor can review your lesson plans with a critical eye, identifying any errors before you share them with your student. They can also step in and directly teach any concepts that you aren't comfortable presenting. The Learning Lab provides a host of other resources as well, including assessments written to measure your student's progress toward their next grade level, regular progress reports, and instructional videos that can make dry topics feel more engaging. Homeschooling can be difficult, but it can also be very rewarding with the right resources at your disposal.

How are the tutors in Columbus chosen?

Anybody can call themselves a tutor in Columbus, but Varsity Tutors uses an extensive screening process that filters out most prospective instructors. We start by making sure that each candidate combines proven expertise with demonstrable teaching skills, as great tutors must have both of these qualities.

We also double-check an instructor's availability so students don't get any nasty surprises when they try to schedule a session.

We don't stop there though. We verify that every instructor in our network has a great personality, encouraging students to forge a meaningful personal rapport with their instructor that can make it easier to ask for help as necessary. Finally, we make sure that every tutor has a love of learning and a passion for teaching others. If a tutor doesn't want to be there, their pupil is likely to realize it.

In summation, a private tutor can help students at all levels reach for their full academic potential. If you or your student are struggling, a tutor can introduce topics more slowly to help you catch up. Alternatively, a tutor can provide additional insight into topics that fascinate you. Knowledgeable Educational Directors are currently standing by to find you a certified private teacher in Columbus, but it's up to you to get the process started. The Columbus School System

Columbus, Ohio, is the state capital and the largest city in the state, with a population of about 879,000. By some measures, it is one of the fastest growing cities in the nation, and it is already the third most populous state capital in the country. Approximately 55,000 students go to schools in the Columbus City School (CSS) district. The district oversees about 140 different schools, including several magnet schools that specialize in various academic disciplines.

In an ever-expanding school district, many parents feel a little lost when it comes to navigating their child’s academic career. Varsity Tutors can help you connect with a professional Columbus tutor who can give your child the academic support they need to reach their learning potential. Where does your child stand against Columbus school assessment averages?

Columbus Test Scores

No matter where in the United States your child goes to school, they would likely face nationally recognized testing towards the end of their high school career in the form of either the ACT or the SAT. In Columbus, however, your child will be expected to demonstrate mastery in their language arts and mathematics skills beginning in the third grade. Science testing starts in fifth grade, and yearly testing doesn’t end until the eighth grade. Once your child enters high school, they will take a variety of End-of-Course exams. These exams cover a wide range of subjects, including history, language arts, algebra, science, government, and biology.

Professional tutors are an excellent resource for students who are facing an upcoming exam no matter what school they attend. Many of the state’s best schools are in the Columbus area. We began this session by going over all of the assigned work from our previous session. We checked two math sections and one critical reading section. The student has greatly improved in her accuracy and logical thinking. She is scoring much better than when we began. I feel that she is really utilizing the test taking skills and strategies as well as using her own knowledge to be successful. We have one more session before her SAT test.

Tonight, The student and I reviewed for his test over exponential and logarithmic functions, practicing expansion, simplification, graphing, evaluation, and equation solving. He had almost no difficulty with the concepts or processes; all of his mistakes were minor, and most of them were unrelated to the core concepts. If he takes his time and writes a little bigger, he should have no trouble avoiding those.
