For more than 50 years, the GMAT has been regarded as one of the most critical indicators of a candidate's potential in business school. The test was developed by some of the most prestigious business schools in the nation. Over the years it has been refined and updated as business trends and skills have changed, which is how it has managed to stay relevant and useful for so long. The GMAT has earned the respect of education and business professionals alike, and if doing well on it is at the top of your list of priorities, working with learning professionals as part of your preparation strategy is a wise decision.
What can Boston GMAT prep cover?
The GMAT is made up of four sections: the Analytical Writing Assessment, Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Verbal Reasoning. You will have a little more than three hours to complete all four parts of the exam, but that time is not distributed evenly. You will need to practice and prioritize your time within each section if you want to do your best. Working with learning professionals can help you determine where to focus your attention.
Some of the concepts evaluated in the GMAT include reading comprehension, critical reasoning, sentence correction, grammar, math, general knowledge, problem-solving, identifying and analyzing pertinent data, and a variety of writing skills. The breadth of the exam is immense and failing to review fundamental elements can have a disastrous impact on your score.
The format of the GMAT varies from one section to the next, but you will face multiple choice questions, reading passages, multi-step questions, and be required to provide written responses. The format and the skills tested on the GMAT are not random; each was chosen for a purpose. The designers of the exam know you need to have these skills and the ability to perform under pressure to succeed in graduate school and business. By taking the time to prepare for this exam, you are also preparing for your future.
If the idea of facing such a high stakes test with only the preparation you can cobble together on your own is terrifying, we can help. You don't need to prepare alone! Varsity Prep can connect you with several Boston GMAT prep solutions, and we can help you find the one that's right for your learning needs and schedule.

...philosophy on standardized test-taking and teaching, I've always relished the challenge of standardized testing, to be honest. I think engendering that same sentiment in future test-takers can be key. As for my love of tutoring, I feel that teaching others to solve certain problems is in many ways more gratifying than coming up with a correct answer to a problem yourself. In a similar vein, while it may be clich (though just because something is...

I am a passionate science educator with experience teaching high school students, college students, and adults. I like to teach by building frameworks of understanding with my students, and make sure to treat each case individually.... Every student is different. Instead of covering everything taught in the class, I prefer to focus on problem areas.... I believe that learning is a personal process, and the role of a good teacher or tutor is to facilitate and guide the learning experience. Because of this philosophy, I like to push students to grasp concepts as much as possible, instead of focusing on memorization.
