Tutoring review by Hsiao-harng in Madison, TN
On this first tutoring session, the student and I had a good start. We went through problems from the AP Calculus AB test booklet. The problems we looked into covered a wide range of topics. These topics include limits, finding derivatives to find the equation tangent to the original function, and evaluating integrals. Some areas that we reviewed were using the product rule and quotient rule when taking derivatives, finding the derivatives of exponential functions, and various ways to take the limit of functions. It was a fun session and I'm confident that things between me and the student will go well!

Tutoring review by Terri in Madison, TN
At the start, the student corrected classwork. He only missed a few on fractions. He knew what he did and corrected it. He corrected multiplication and division too. We worked on clocks and lines and rays. He did very well. He then did a 6 minute division worksheet. There are 81 problems. He completed 67 and missed 6. He improved from the one he did in class. He is doing very well at grade level or above. He's enjoying the tutor time as well.

Tutoring review by Benjamin in Madison, TN
Today we focused on the breakdown of the individual rules for the writing section. We had previously outlined the 16 rules to be applied, but today we walked through recognizing each of them in sequence. We talked about how they appear and how to spot them. My hope is for us to be able to see a question and immediately identify what kind of problem it is even before we feel out the answer. This will help prevent minor errors, but also create more of a consciousness towards the questions as is.

Today was definitely better than our last session. The student finished the book we had been reading for a few sessions, and then we worked on writing form sentences using animals and the verb avoir. The student was very enthusiastic today, and excited about writing the sentences and accomplishing a task.

Tutoring review by Eric in Madison, TN
The student and I went over the incorrect problems from her graded work from the previous week, reviewing the concepts and techniques of long division, solving for an unknown, and understanding mathematical terms. We also did some practice drills to help build her understanding and/or confidence with multiplication facts and the recognition of place value. Her overall attitude, once she gets started, is very good. In this session I gave her some strategies on breaking down numbers and using repeated addition to help her with figuring out unknown multiplication facts. We also reviewed the key principles of place value outlining the importance of zero. As extra practice, I assigned her the task of writing and repeating her multiplication facts 3 times each to help build her retention and confidence in this area. A review of her graded work shows that she is keeping pace with her class. She had a small percentage of errors on her work and she openly raised questions about things she didn't quite understand.
