Foyil Tutoring FAQ

Foyil was named after Alfred Foyil, the town's first postmaster. The town's population is approximately 350 residents, with a median family income of around $28,500.

The Foyil School District has one public secondary school in the area, known as Foyil High. An enthusiastic Foyil tutor is eager to help you in your private test prep instruction, whether the tutoring session is in-home or online. Tutors in Foyil might give you a boost through flexible online tutoring and help with test prep. Some of the best nearby colleges include Rogers State University in Claremore and the University of Tulsa. The largest attraction in Foyil is the Totem Pole Park. The park is maintained by the Rogers County Historical Society and has been recently refurbished, with the handful of concrete totem poles it contains having been completely repainted. The poles were created by an artist named Ed Galloway at the end of the Spanish-American War; he also built the Fiddle House nearby to display his handmade instruments and furniture. The instruments are mostly fiddle, and are all made out of different types of wood. The park also holds the world's largest totem pole, towering at 90 feet tall.

The small town is only about 15 minutes driving time from the larger city of Claremore and all of the activities it offers. The Will Rogers Memorial Museum is a beautiful tribute to the man and his impact on American history. The museum will also interest architecture buffs, who will find a great interest in the building's unique architecture. Claremore Lake has a large number of outdoor activities. Do you enjoy spending your time on the water? The lake is very good for fishing, canoeing, or kayaking. Excellently maintained trails are easy to walk, and several shelters are available for picnicking, family gatherings, or other informal events. Two playgrounds are provided to keep the kids entertained, and you may enjoy the easy access to Frisbee golf areas. If you want to try a taste of local fudge or coffee, The Nut House has a delicious selection of treats for you to try.

Tutoring review by Mihir in Foyil, OK
The first session with the student went extremely well. We covered basic concepts of algebraic expressions as well as equations. He has begun to grasp the concept and understand what is happening with each step. The student was receptive to everything I taught and showed more enthusiasm as time went on. I told him to practice extra with practice problems from the book before the next session.

We worked through one homework set from the book and one worksheet, both involving radicals and rationalizing denominators. The student struggled at first but was able to understand the concepts and work through problems on her own.

Tutoring review by Brian in Foyil, OK
She was concerned about a research paper due the next day in her English class. She also shared with me that her math grade had gone from a C to a B and we celebrated a little. We went over the new math concepts, and she was very comfortable with them. We reviewed a few of her homework problems so I could be sure she understood the process, and it was apparent that she did. She had emailed me part of the final draft of her paper, and I had edited it. She had written a pretty clean paper, so there were few edits to make. For the rest of the session, she wrote and I edited.

Tutoring review by Jayar in Foyil, OK
It was a pleasure to start my sessions with the student yesterday. He gave me a brief history on the trouble that he had in Calculus last semester. Online, I was able to see an outline of the chapters that his course covered. So I decided to start in the textbook with Chapter 1. Chapter 1 seems to be concerning review of algebraic concepts and he showed a great level of conceptual and calculative understanding thus far. The concepts we reviewed included line function y=mx+b, curves and local extrema, concavity, and rates. I picked a number problems from each section that he had to solve. From his computations, I just had to remind him of PEMDAS (order of operations) a couple times, but there wasn't anything that I feel he is stuck on thus far. I relayed to him that I believe the issues he is having will begin in Chapter 2 concerning derivatives. Therefore, Wednesday we will finish up Chapter 1 concepts and move into Chapter 2 so that we can find out exactly where he is having issues. I assigned him a few problems from Chapter 1. Overall it was a great session, and I am looking forward to finding his areas of difficulty during our next session.
