Tutoring review by Brian in Ephrata, WA
The student and I began by going over new concepts that had been introduced in her class, properties of logarithms. We reviewed the basic concepts and then she worked through homework problems assigned to her. She understood the basic concepts and as we worked through her homework problems, it was clear she understood the basic concepts.

We started by reviewing free energy and enzymes. We then reviewed some from each of chapters 8-10 including glycolysis, the citric acid cycle, electron transport chain, and photosynthesis. We went in depth about each of the processes, discussing where they take place and the key products.

The student had a problem set on capacitance, and he worked through it. Then I watched (and nudged) as he worked through a 5-stage problem involving capacitance and electric field and force. Finally, we worked on some old AP problems, including one on the magnetic force on a moving charged particle.

Tutoring review by Kelie in Ephrata, WA
We talked about scientific notation, the metric system, and converting between different units. I noticed that, while converting between units, the student was adjusting the decimal point backwards. For instance, when converting from grams to kilograms, she would make the number larger instead of smaller. She also didn't know the abbreviations for the units, which was confusing her on assignments and quizzes. We were able to clear up those things, so she was correctly answering all of the questions I was giving her. We also discussed how to write something in scientific notation when it's already written as a decimal (.094 --> 9.4x10^-2).

Tutoring review by Rachel in Ephrata, WA
It was a pleasure to meet and work with this student. She is a bright and curious student who is doing well in math, but could use some extra help both on some big picture concepts and on some calculation details. For example, we went over the logic behind calculating the y-intercept. I would definitely encourage her to become less reliant on her calculator - I think she needs it less than she gives herself credit for!

Tutoring review by Jeehee in Ephrata, WA
For today's tutoring session, we reviewed the student's geometry packet. I think she has a good grasp of the Pythagorean Theorem, which is good. In addition, we reviewed volume. We then went over fractions and exponents. For our next session, we will be reviewing simplifying algebraic expressions and factoring. Overall, today was a good session.
