We worked on the student's homework for chapter 8 section 2. He seemed to understand the concepts well and got through it pretty easily. He is definitely getting better at graphing equations and solving quadratics equations, which is mostly what the homework consisted of. Additionally, we went over chapter 8 section 3 very briefly, and he understood the basic concepts. Hopefully, he will be ahead when he goes over it in class and then understand the material well enough to do well on the quiz on the first three sections of chapter 8.

*Practiced writing numbers 1-25. -She did very well with this, all numbers were written correctly. *Addition/subtraction practice (where she wrote each problem to continue practicing writing numbers). -She does very well with the lower numbers. -Practiced adding coins. *Review of spelling words. *Practiced reading comprehension. -She comprehends very well. *Practiced study words: when, where, what. -We will continue to practice.

We worked on two of her homework assignments; factoring and finding GCF of integers, and factoring polynomials. She tends to solve problems from memory rather than analyzing the problem at hand. This is normal for beginners. She understands all the homework problems now. Her dad said the she is caught up and wants mostly Saturday sessions. I did not leave her with specific problems to work. I will remind her and her parents to work odd problems and check answers.

Today session with the student went really well. We focused on finishing up a lot of late home work that he had due. It was mostly on volumes and areas of polygons. He was having trouble remembering his equations but his teacher is allowing them to use a note sheet, which allowed the student to do much better. I didn't leave him with any practice problems at this time. He is doing well in the class still. .

First the student and I spent some time getting to know each other. Then I brought out "Sophie the Awesome" for us to read. I thought it would be a good start because it is about a girl the student's age and at the right reading level. Then she did her homework and a reading exercise from a book I have. In addition, I suggested that the father buy the program "Reading A to Z" which I have found helpful. He did this and we also made some plans for our next session on Friday.
