Tutoring review by Sylvia in Bel Air, MD
We spent time doing multiplication flashcards. He was left with extra practice for the following multiplication facts and their twins: 7x4, 6x8, and 8x4. He was very confident in the majority of his math facts as well as the following concepts we reviewed: addition and subtraction of fractions, order of operations, multiplication with up to five digits, word problems involving fractions, weight conversions, and adding/multiplying decimals. We will work more on addition/subtraction facts moving forward. I was amazed at how proficient and thorough he was when working through problems.

Tutoring review by Jon in Bel Air, MD
During this session the student continued to practice solving and graphing inequalities. We introduced the idea of a system of linear inequalities, and he was quickly able to grasp the concept of looking for the intersection of solution sets. We also worked on word problems that lead to a linear inequality or system of inequalities. He had a bit of difficulty determining which information in a prompt was relevant and translating it into an algebraic expression. This is an area that we will work on during future algebraic expressions to improve his mathematical reading skills and so that he can better understand which types of real-life situations lead to inequalities.
