As the first in my family to attend college I have experienced adversity, but more importantly I have learned how to overcome my humble beginnings through hard work and determination. I am pursuing my third college degree and currently writing my master's thesis on morality. Working with students to enhance the quality of their work and assist them in mastering learning is something I am very passionate about. I have experienced first-hand what a profound impact education can have on one's life, quality of experiences, and interactions with others.I believe what sets me apart as tutor is my ability to convey complex information in a an engaging and relatable way. I am a public school educator with 26 years of experience in teaching, instructional coaching, technology integration, and data analysis. I am passionate about helping students identify and achieve their learning goals because I recognize, based on personal and professional experience, that there is power in committing to goals and making a clear plan to reach or exceed those goals. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish and Mexican American Studies, a Master's Degree in Spanish Linguistics, Master's Certificate in Educational Leadership, and a lifetime teaching certificate (various areas of certification) in the state of Texas. I continue to be informally educated, though, wherever I go. My perspective is that learning happens continually, if we maintain a posture of humility. In support of that, I would like my students to know that I am taking steps to get a Paralegal Degree and my next goal will be my Doctoral Degree! Outside of academia I am interested in travel, gardening, astronomy, nature, reading, painting, and more.

I am a student at University of Houston-Clear Lake. I am majoring in mathematics with a certification to teach grades 8-12. I have recently aced both my teaching certification exams! I am currently a student teacher in Pearland. My favorite subject is Algebra. I also enjoy Calculus, Geometry, Physics, and other mathematics. I realize most people do not like math, but I believe enthusiasm is contagious. I enjoy helping others, especially when it comes to math. For young children reading and writing is like learning how to ride a bicycle. In the beginning it can be a bit mechanical, but once the senses are engaged along with the imagination reading can become alive! It is my desire to help every student that I teach feel confident in his/her abilities to read/write/ and speak the English language. In addition I have a membership to RazKids which is a leveled reading program that offers colorful books of various genres that are matched to student's reading levels. I use the texts to teach comprehension and word skills. The program also has built in comprehension activities to help the reader grow.
