I have a B.A. in English from Texas ATM and an M.S. from UHCL in Reading. I have taught preschool, kindergarten, first and second grade. I have also taught upper elementary, junior high, and high school students reading and writing skills. In addition I have experience teaching children as well as adults ESL and have an ESL license. I am certified in the state of Texas and New York. My favorite subject to teach is reading. I have even taught children in pull ups how to read! Reading for me is a vehicle that can change and enrich your life, even helping you to become a better person learning about the world around you. For young children reading and writing is like learning how to ride a bicycle. In the beginning it can be a bit mechanical, but once the senses are engaged along with the imagination reading can become alive! It is my desire to help every student that I teach feel confident in his/her abilities to read/write/ and speak the English language. I enjoy helping people succeed and will do everything in my power to help you achieve your goals. Learning is fun and meant to be a lifelong journey. I feel privileged to help you along the way. I am also skilled in many software learning applications at all learning levels including early childhood reading readiness. In addition I have a membership to RazKids which is a leveled reading program that offers colorful books of various genres that are matched to student's reading levels. I use the texts to teach comprehension and word skills. The program also has built in comprehension activities to help the reader grow.

I enjoy reading, bike riding, swimming, snow skiing, boating, going to the beach, and spending time with family and friends. I have also studied acting in NYC and enjoy participating in plays in local community theatres near my home. Some of my favorite roles have been Susie in Wait Until Dark, and the role of Catherine in Proof. I like to be in all types of plays such as comedies, dramas, and thrillers.
