I earned a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor Classical Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington, and after teaching high school English for three years, I earned a Master of Arts in English from the University of Dallas. During and after earning my MA, I tutored in a community college writing center and taught credit and non-credit college English classes. I recently returned from South Korea, where I taught ESL classes to a wide range of students, elementary-aged to adult. I have experience teaching in both classroom and private settings, and I delight in helping students reach their goals and find their voices in order to better express themselves in both speaking and writing.

I am a current Junior at the University of Dallas working on my Elementary Education degree and certification. I have been working with children in and outside of the classroom setting for the past 3 years, and I am very passionate about helping every student meet their goals and succeed. I homeschooled for my whole education up to college, which allowed me to finish Calculus III before graduating high school. Currently, I attend University of Dallas, where I am studying for a math/science degree.I tutor for all middle and high school math, as well as for standardized tests like the ACT and SAT. I am very patient, and I enjoy working with students. When I tutor a student, I try to discover the root of the problem, usually a misunderstood or inadequately explained concept. Once I find the problem area, I can explain it as clearly and as simply as possible. My passion for education began in college while tutoring K8 math. For the past 10 years, I've worked in Special Education and now serve as an Educational Diagnostician. After graduating with a BA in English from the University of Dallas and a Master of Arts from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, I went on to teach classes of 6-11th grade students at Trivium Preparatory Academy for 3 years in English, Writing, and Math. I also tutored students individually for all sections of the SAT and ACT during my time there, and I have continued to do so for the past year with Varsity Tutors. I love teaching English and Literature because I have a passion for storytelling, and I enjoy teaching Math and Grammar because of their rational nature and the enjoyment that comes from solving logic puzzles. When I am not teaching, I enjoy going to the movies, spending time with my five younger brothers and sisters, and volunteering within MENSA. We all need a little help now and then.Common education does a decent job of imparting information, but different people sometimes need a different approach, a little push, supplemental explanation or special practice so that they can truly understand and succeed with a subject... and in life. Part of my tutoring process is to listen and discern what is really at the root of the student's learning challenges. Sometimes it turns out that the real problem isn't the subject at all, but the way it is being taught, a lack of study time or space, or even a completely unrelated frustration. My goal is to help people strengthen their study habits and deepen their thinking skills so that they can grow in true understanding and experience success. I am in the process of transitioning careers from an attorney to a high school social studies teacher. I plan to start teaching in the fall. I am originally from sunny San Diego, California. Back in high school I was a tri-sport athlete playing volleyball, basketball and track for my school. My Senior year I was named the Female Scholar Athlete of the Year.I moved to Texas about four years ago to attend college, where I continued my passion for playing sports. I was a college athlete, playing both volleyball and running track. Furthermore, I was a SCAC Student Athlete and either on Honor Roll or Dean's List every semester in my undergraduate career.
