Hi, I'm Belle. My love of linguistics and love of working with youth are my key inspirations to tutoring; I hope to teach my whole life long. I'm friendly, down-to-earth, and always meet my clients right where they are. I spent 8 years living in Japan, where I gained fluency and earned my teaching license while working in Japanese public elementary schools. I have been teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages for 11 years and Japanese for 5 years. I feel very strongly about modernizing JP language education. During my tenure at a private school in Seattle I completely rewrote the Japanese curriculum to align with new textbooks (Tobira series) utilizing modern language learning techniques. I never expected to teach Japanese after returning to the US, but have discovered not only do my ESOL teaching skills perfectly apply to JP teaching, but it's a ton of fun. I also have extensive experience with special needs students. I was the deputy campus manager for a private, special needs school in Seattle that focused on 1:1 education for high school credit retrieval. My experience working with such a vulnerable group of students deepened my empathy and ignited further passion for advocating for what is best for a student. LGBTQIA+ SAFE SPACE TEACHER.

As a tutor, I strive to impart the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful learners at any level. I developed these skills during my doctoral studies, and I pass them along to my students. I do this by establishing strong relationships predicated on trust and safety. With almost a decade in the educational profession and higher educational space, I have a vast wealth of experiences to assist students (Test Preparation, English Language Arts, Social Studies, Philosophy).

Hello, I'm Kiarra. I bring 16 years of tutoring experience and 8 years of professional teaching, with a focus on helping students who learn differently thrive academically and confidently. I support learners with ADHD, dyslexia, processing delays, IEPs, and 504 plans in ACT/SAT prep, college readiness, reading, writing, and math foundations. My lessons are structured, practical, and goal-oriented. We begin with diagnostics to identify strengths and gaps, then build personalized plans that turn strategy into action. Whether we're breaking down test questions, strengthening reading skills, or improving problem-solving, sessions are interactive and skill-building not generic worksheets. Students leave with clearer strategies, stronger confidence, and measurable progress.
I have three years of experience teaching a variety of high school math, science and college prep classes in Texas. I also had the privilege of developing and coaching the girls soccer program! I have an additional 4 years of tutoring and teacher assistant experience outside my role as a teacher, specifically working in curriculum design for the ACT, SAT and calculus-based Physics classes. I have my Texas Teacher's Certification, and received my Bachelor of Science in Physics at the University of West Florida. I am currently working towards a Masters in Applied Mathematics, while studying for the actuary professional exams. My absolute favorite subject to tutor is Physics; not only because my back ground is strongest in this subject, but also because the way to tutor these concepts is simply the most fun. Most students struggle with understanding the connections between the necessary math and the physical consequences. The best way to reinforce the math and the science together is to get up and do it. Scientists, of course, spend a lot of time reading and writing; but the true understanding of a topic comes when you can both experience the consequences of the concept and explain them to another person. Students will spend a lot of time in my physics sessions sliding, spinning, dropping, rolling, skidding, pushing and pulling themselves, non-breakable objects or even the occasional family member. Don't worry, I leave the family pets out of it! Although those of you online may see my cat in a few demonstrations. My tutoring style looks more like a coach and less like a teacher. I believe that students must be guided towards reflecting on their own learning, communicating their own areas of need, and developing study skills and classroom habits that work best for them. It is more important to me, as a tutor, to set the student up for continued success with the long term goal of them being independent learners. This coaching method allows me to be flexible within the constraints of the goals and the curriculum to better respond to your student's actual need.
I love teaching mathematics and I am interested in helping students who are struggling with math concepts. I am able to break the concepts down into digestible "chunks", and tie the math concepts together. I would greatly value an opportunity to help any student!
Hello! I'm currently in graduate school pursuing a Masters in social work from The Ohio State University and have a BA in community education from the University of West Florida. I'm passionate about education and providing equal access to education. I believe in strengths based approaches, and love to make learning fun and engaging by utilizing a student's passions and skills.I have experience as a paraprofessional in elementary and high school settings. In both environments, I assisted students who were English language learners and students that had disabilities. These experiences have allowed me to develop my approach to instruction and assist struggling learners gain the knowledge and skills to meet their academic goals. For example, the students I have worked with have made significant gains in reading, with their test scores improving by up to two grade levels.
I am a former high schools physics teacher and current graduate student in mathematics.I've had experience tutoring math subjects since my undergraduate days-- in a distant epoch-- and was lucky enough to teach the first AP Physics course at a high school in Florida.I believe that my approach to teaching mathematics and physics was borne out of an initial dislike and fear of the subject in middle school. Far from the 'arm-raised-straight-up' type, I was perfectly comfortable dreading being called on and relying on assured knowledge that I'd never needing such useless facts again. However, a curveball was thrown my way after reaching the 10th grade where I uncovered a nascent interest in physics. After reading A Brief History of Time and realizing that math and physics were so inextricably linked, I decided that I wanted to learn more about the field that Gauss called, "the queen of the sciences."I believe that if I an learn it, my students can learn it. It may be hackneyed, but I really do believe in the old adage that genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. In my experience, what often seems to the student a lack of ability to understand math or physics conceptually stems from easily taught (but not easily practiced) study skills.
"Good morning, good afternoon, and good night, superstars! ???? I am SO excited that you get to be in my tutoring sessions! I feel like the luckiest teacher in Tennessee because I get to learn and grow right alongside all of you. My name is James, and I've been teaching wonderful kids just like you for 16 years. I'm a special education teacher here in Tennessee, and I have a Doctorate in Special Education, which just means I went to school for a really long time so I could be the very best teacher for you. I love watching my students light up when they learn something new, when they finally "understand it," or when they feel proud of themselves. That's my favorite part of every single day! So here's my promise to you: We're going to have fun, we're going to work hard, and we're going to celebrate every win, big or small, together. You've got this, and I've got you! Now, let's make this the best session ever. Are you ready?!"
