About Me
The wise philosopher Jack Sparrow once said "the only rules that really matter are these: what a man can do and what a man can't do." My passion is helping learners quickly identify what they CAN do (we all have something!) and what they CAN'T do so that they can skim through their strong areas, prioritize their weaker areas, and get the most bang for their buck of studying time. Whether the need is a last-minute "Hail Mary" for an upcoming test or a long-term study plan to optimize the odds of college admittance, I'm here to help! I graduated as valedictorian from high school and Magna Cum Laude from the University of West Florida with my bachelor's degree in Middle School Math/Science Education. I'm currently working toward my master's in Instructional Design, and I enjoy sewing, creating multimedia projects, and hiking when I'm not helping students succeed. I first began an illustrious career of tutoring when I was 15, teaching piano lessons to students aging from toddler to adult. I have since taught math and science professionally in elementary, middle school, and high school. I have tutored a variety of other subjects (English grammar, literature, writing, reading comprehension, music, history, government, college entrance exams) and standardized tests (CLEP, AP, SAT, ACT, etc). My absolute favorites to teach are math, English, and CLEP to help students be competitive for quality colleges. While mastering the subject area or test content is important, I believe the best that I have to offer is training how to study and learn with passion and purpose. I excel at quickly determining what the mastery expectations are, where the learner is falling short or needs to improve, what background learning might be needed, and how to quickly achieve mastery. Some of my best successes have been my children. Under my instruction, they excelled on their college admissions tests and CLEP tests graduating with honors and scholarships while also cutting up to 2 years off of their college degree plans. One of my children pursued and obtained a nomination to the United States Military Academy at West Point and graduated 5th in her class. My goal with every student I work with is to inspire a lifelong learner who accomplishes big dreams.
