I believe that the root of solving any issue in this world stems from attaining education and by using my passion for educating to help future generations gain the tools of success, I can help them build a better world of tomorrow. With my international background, having studied & worked in Switzerland, Kenya & Bangladesh, I have experience working with students of all backgrounds & demographics. Additionally, I have acquired many real-world organizational skills whilst pursuing my undergrad degree in business management & marketing, and an MBA program in the future, which will help me provide a pragmatic approach to learning & educating towards students. I am a Math and English tutor. Why English? I love to read and am a stickler for grammar. I have a vast vocabulary because of my love for reading and can always think of different ways to say the same thing in essays, papers, etc. Why Math? I like it, I'm good at it and I've noticed that a lot of kids hate it because they aren't good at it or the opposite-they aren't good at it because they hate it. I am here to try to bridge the disconnect between students and their Math skill set and get them to see that they can overcome that obstacle. I love learning from the students I tutor. I love seeing them grow and outgrow me.

I got introduced to teaching when I was in my teens by working with my siblings, cousins, neighbors etc. It soon became a regular practice to sit with my younger sibling to check his homework assignments and prepare him for his examinations. When in college, teaching became my profession. I started to teach kids from K-10. It soon gave me purpose to continue my journey of gaining knowledge. I taught middle school subjects like mathematics and science including physics, chemistry and biology while I myself was studying economics, mathematics and statistics.I have also been a teacher in preschool for more than a year which has led me to understand the importance of child psychology and the relevance of mode of teaching.I feel that I had a nag of teaching which got developed into passion. I am always eager to help someone understand a concept, clear their doubts, and give them a guide and pathway towards learning.

I am a graduate from Suffolk University with a BS in Computer Science. I am currently beginning a career in software design with a focus on mobile applications. My main passions are Mathematics and Computer Science, although I have a strong academic background in several areas including English and the physical sciences. I have been tutoring since high school and have experience working with all ages in a number of subjects. I have the most experience working with high school and middle school students in mathematics. My other teaching experiences include tutoring in English and computer skills in an ESOL classroom for refugees, as well as private and group violin instruction for children of all ages.I believe that Math comprehension is absolutely essential to a successful education. As a tutor I focus on presenting material in a number of ways to accommodate all learning styles and making material relevant to the student. Helping students overcome the anxieties that so often accompany learning Math at the earliest and most crucial stages means helping students think about the material in a way that is meaningful to them and teaching them to relate Math to their own lives and interests in a way that fosters a passion that lasts far beyond the day of the big test and hopefully for a lifetime.Although my main focuses are standardized test preparation and Mathematics, I also tutor Chemistry, Physics, Reading Comprehension, Essay Writing, Grammar and a number of other subjects. In my free time I love playing with my computer, reading, practicing my violin and all sorts of outdoorsy activities.

I am a recent law school graduate from Suffolk University Law School and hold a B.S. in Criminal Justice with a minor in business from Virginia Commonwealth University. Throughout high school, college, and law school, I have served as a coach, mentor, and teacher. I coached a swim team for many years, taught swim lessons to everyone from babies to adults, and served as a volunteer assistant with a middle school ESL department. As a law student, I had the opportunity to participate in a program where I taught Constitutional Law to high school juniors and seniors at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School in Cambridge, MA. I loved working with my class and watching how much they learned and grew throughout the year. One of my students was even selected to participate in a national moot court competition, and I had the privilege of coaching him through the competition and watching him compete in Washington, D.C. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about history, government, political science, and law. I also love reading and writing, and am very experienced in drafting all types of writing and papers, including personal statements and college/grad school essays. Enthusiastic, passionate, and goal-oriented are words used to describe me. I love working with students of all ages and welcome any challenge!

I graduated from Suffolk University summa cum laude with honors and a presidential scholarship. I attained a BA in Philosophy and English. The scholarship awarded me the chance to teach English, critical writing, and several workshops to hundreds of students every semester for my final three years at the university. I am currently a widely published writer and a graduate student at the number one low-residency MFA program in the country, Vermont College of Fine Arts. I study poetry and translation (Spanish, Russian, and German). The translation component requires me to translate poems from their native language into English. The MFA itself is a rigorous program that focuses on intense reading and writing. The MFA degree is the terminal degree for the fine arts field. I am also a Professor of Literature at Changing Lives Through Literature, an alternative probation program at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. I am also a copyeditor for The Tishman Review and a manuscript reader for Hunger Mountain. Throughout my poetry career, I have worked closely with several nationally recognized poets, most notably the National Book Award recipient David Ferry. I was awarded the 2014 Robert K. Johnson Poetry Prize and three Pushcart Prize nominations

I have a variety of experiences this world has offered me in which I am sure you will find I am a well-seasoned and opportune candidate in fostering your learning needs. From working with elementary-aged students in camps and afterschool programs, to advising and inspiring adolescents in environmental advocacy groups, all the way to assisting professors and undergraduates in their college coursework, you should have no doubt that my goal is to motivate you and give you the best experience possible! To tell you a little about myself... I'm a big fan of traveling and all that may entail. Trying new foods, hiking cliff-sides, exploring a new scene on my kayak, experiencing live music...you could say I'm a bit of an adventure buff! Meeting new people and healthy idea-exchange excites me; it all relates back to my upbringing, and henceforth why I think I am one of the best choices you could make.Prior to studying environmental engineering at Suffolk University, I developed strong roots in community engagement and environmental activism with the Gulf of Maine Institute. This was the beginning of what fueled my strong sense of commitment, dedicated service, and respect towards all. I I have worked in service oriented environments since the age of 14, and have not left the industry since. My passion to serve the Earth and its inhabitants has opened a countless number of doors for me, and I hope I can stir you to realize that you can do the same!No matter the task, I remain positive, and approachable. I truly believe that enriching and engaging the mind is protecting our Earth's best natural resource- and it all starts with education. At the end of the day, by promoting your intellect, I believe my job has been well done.

I believe that everyone is far more capable of learning than they believe, and that we all have unique styles of learning because we all come from different backgrounds with distinct experiences and values. With that, my goal is to learn as much about my students as possible and tailor curricula to each student's preferred style of learning. My goal is not only for my students to understand the subject in which they seek instruction, but understand themselves a little more and to have the tools necessary to adapt themselves to learn in new environments. I have experience tutoring and teaching both children and adults. I volunteered as a tutor with a charter school in South Boston before attending law school. As a trial attorney, I also assist with the lawyer training program in which I teach new lawyers trial advocacy and pre-trial litigation skills. From both experiences, I understand the need be goal driven yet flexible so that each student can be successful.
