My name is Cameron and I recently graduated from the University of Arizona with a BS in Molecular and Cellular Biology. Next year, I will become a Genetics PhD student at Stanford University. I have experience tutoring people of all ages and backgrounds in science and math. I find tutoring to be a rewarding experience and I view it as a way to pay-it-forward, as I have also needed the assistance of tutors throughout my academic career. My expertise stems from the coursework in my undergraduate degree and from my previous job as a paid scientific researcher. As the only scientist in a large family, I am also very good at communicating scientific and mathematical concepts in refreshing and understandable ways.

Hello! I'm an undergrad student at Stanford University studying Computer Science and American Studies. I am passionate about teaching and mentorship, and find that the best way to learn more about a subject is to teach it.

I graduated from Stanford University in 2013 with a BA in Human Biology and a minor in Political Science. Throughout high school and college, I tutored students ranging from age 4 to age 18 for several organizations. This provided me with a wide variety of material, lesson plans, and experiences that motivated me to work as a full-time AmeriCorps tutor in a public school in Chicago following graduation. I spent this year tutoring and mentoring fifth graders, providing whole classroom support and leading small group pull-outs. I also led an after school program focusing on homework help and Common Core skills for fifth and sixth grade. I have a deep understanding of the Common Core in both English Language Arts and Math and of what students are expected to learn in the classrooms. Most importantly, I have a passion for tutoring and building up skills that enable students to become successful in and out of the classroom. My interest in tutoring started in college. After a confusing lecture, I would often go 1-1 resources like office hours or TA help sessions. Here, I would be able to ask questions that clarified topics that would otherwise take me much longer to understand. Often I would relay this information to my friends, and I felt a sense of fulfillment in teaching it. Being able to help someone along to their "a-ha!" moment and share in that experience has been one of the greatest joys of teaching. In addition, doing so not only helped them, but also myself in solidifying my understanding of the material.This led me to take on various roles as a TA, both in 1-1 and in group settings later in my college career. My responsibilities ranged from weekly 1-1 sessions with multiple students to giving a review session to a large lecture class.Outside of academics, for all four years I have tutored middle/high school students in music in a 1-1 setting. This was through one of Yale's Dwight Hall service/outreach program. What interested me in tutoring music was the same sense of fulfillment, being able to watch someone progress overtime and see their face as they learn something new and enjoy it!
