As a student-centered educator with nearly two decades of teaching experience, in my tutoring I prioritize listening to students and building their capacity to achieve their goals. I pride myself on being responsive, patient, and my student's biggest champion.

I am an experienced Mechanical Engineer currently trying to make my way into the product design arena. I recently moved to Oregon from Michigan in pursuit of this goal! I have always loved and had a skill for math and physics. This was only strengthened through two degrees in engineering.Although my formal tutoring didn't start until college, in high school I did some volunteer tutoring and was often helping my friends with their physics and calculus homework. When I did tutor, I tutored mainly in all levels of math.
I am a college graduate with a B.A. in Communication and a minor in Broadcasting. Communicating and engaging with people is a passion of mine, especially when being able to help them learn and grow. In high school, I participated in a co-op experience which allowed me to student teach in two different classrooms my senior year. I taught 2nd grade and 5th grade and fell in love with the difference I was able to make. I ended up taking a bit of a different route in college, but that passion has not left me. I also taught competitive and recreational dance classes for about 8 years, so I have had great and versatile opportunities to influence and inspire students. I hope to continue to help students better understand and thrive in their classes through tutoring with Varsity Tutors.
I have spent the last 15 years working with students so that they can feel successful. I will work hard to find a way to help you understand the concepts! I have two engineering degrees from the University of Michigan, one in Chemical Engineering and one in Material Science Engineering. I also have an MBA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. Finally, I have a Master of Arts in Teaching from Oakland University. I am certified to teach Chemistry, Math, and Physics, and I have an Integrated Science Endorsement.
I am a Communications major at Oakland University's Honors College and will be entering my junior year. I started tutoring math when I was in seventh grade. In high school I started tutoring history, math, English, writing, helping with memorization, and coaching public speaking. I was student body president and involved in Drama, Volleyball, and music. Now I work as a Proctor for my university's disability support service and work for an e-learning site as a Marketing Manager. I am passionate about education and that each person is capable of great things they just may have to do things differently than everyone else.
I'm a current senior undergraduate student majoring in Biomedical Sciences who recently took the MCAT. I scored a 520 (131/126/131/132) when I took the exam this summer, self-studying for only 3 months and starting from a 502 diagnostic score. I was able to balance a job, volunteering, STEM tutoring, and my MCAT studying over this period.I specialize in tutoring all of C/P and B/B (primarily biochemistry). I have an extensive history tutoring high school students in various STEM courses, transitioning into being a supplemental instruction leader for my Physiology and Organic Chemistry 1 and 2 courses for university students. Working with me as your tutor, I guarantee that you will be able to overcome any weaknesses that you may have in the sciences. I adopt a personalized approach for all of my students, individualizing my resources, instruction, and tips for everyone that I tutor. I also have countless tips for time management, resources, and scheduling that I can offer which will assist any student's study plan.
I love being an encouraging and stable presence in young lives and creating an atmosphere where students feel free to express themselves and explore. I have an MA in education, am certified to teach K-8 students and have been with Varsity Tutors since May of 2022. I have a great deal of experience teaching individuals and small groups in virtual settings and am adept at keeping students engaged and enthusiastic on remote learning platforms.
Knowledge is power. This is very true. And the more knowledge one has, the more power they obtain. My goal, as a tutor, is to take this knowledge I have and transfer it to someone else. Thus, creating a very powerful environment.

Who Wants To Increase Your Understanding Of Lessons, Get Better Grades, And Ace The Test?As a graduate of Oakland University, I studied topics as diverse as the biological, psychosocial, psychological, nutritional, socio-cultural, economic, philosophical, legal, ethical, environmental, community and public health determinants of health and disease, as well as learned effective sampling methods and statistical interpretation of results.I was a teaching assistant for the anatomy and physiology cadaver lab, and have tutored other subjects such as math, reading, biology, and essay writing and proofreading. My favorite subjects to tutor are writing and proofreading because I enjoy showing people how to communicate their ideas better and more forcefully.I try to meet students where they are. I may start with a bit of review then move on to something new. I like to give students the opportunity to solve problems on their own, so they familiarize themselves with the PROCESS more than just merely deriving correct answers.
Together, we can! I enjoy learning and teaching others because knowledge is power. What do you want to be powerful in today?
My educational background had an extremely strong impact on my development and interests, and consequently influenced my decision to pursue my Doctorate of Pharmacy Degree and practice working as a Pharmacist to help the need of my patients and educate others.
