As an experienced educator and tutor for about 10 years, I believe in finding different ways to teach. This includes guiding students on how to think for themselves, while also monitoring their own thinking. I focus on giving power back to the student. A few areas in which I excel include: really getting to know people and their interests, using student interests during lessons, strong problem-solving, general organization, different ways to teach most subjects, and student engagement. My teaching degree is from UNC Greensboro in reading and math for grades 6-9. I also hold a Master's Degree in School Administration that I earned in 2020. In the leadership roles that I have had at my schools, I trained countless teachers in math, reading, writing, speaking, science, and social studies topics in grades K-5 for about 3 years. I have also taught and tutored students in topics ranging from grades K-9.

I come from a family of educators and have had a passion for teaching all of my life. Currently, I have worked in the K-6 Public and Private Education as a teacher, Interventionist and Instructional Coach. I have also worked in Middle School as a Science Teacher, Interventionist and CTE Teacher. I have a belief that all students are able to learn and be successful if they are giving the right opportunity.

Helping students grow is a passion of mine; it is, in fact, my life's work. Since I graduated from the University of North Carolina in 2001 and NC Central University in 2005, I have worked to help students develop their potential in my roles as as an Exceptional Children's Teacher, Middle School ELA teacher, High School English and Social Studies teacher, and College Developmental Reading/Writing and English/History/Humanities instructor.

I am a graduate of North Carolina Central University where I received my Bachelor of Arts summa cum laude in Biology with minors in Jazz studies and Philosophy. I have been tutoring students in an unofficial capacity since high school. When I became an undergraduate I wanted to continue to help students, so I started a tutoring program for underclassmen who were struggling in their science courses. Outside of this, I volunteered my time to help students who were struggling in the upper level courses I was taking. I love science and medicine and I love teaching students to understand and appreciate how cool science can be. I believe that once you understand the concepts and how they fit into the larger framework, it makes memorizing a lot easier and it gives you the command of the material that enables you to do well on any exam. When I am not doing research or thinking about the brain, I love to play jazz, soul, and RandB in the New England area. I also play tennis and soccer on a regular basis.

I've been teaching for 10 years. I started in daycare in college after babysitting for my church members. You can say children are my life. I've taught 3rd-8th grade, all subjects including Bible. 5th grade and middle school 6th-8th might have my heart. I have a passion for kids and education. I'm currently a mom of a 2 yr old little girl who is my joy.

I am currently enrolled at North Carolina Central University as a Psychology major. I hope to go to grad school after attaining my bachelors degree and eventually become a licensed talk therapist. Though my focus in school is on Psych, Ive chosen Reading and English as my tutoring subjects because ever since I read my first book as a child I've had a passion for both. I love reading new stories and learning new things and I treasure having the ability to comprehend and be able to help others comprehend underlying themes and messages that are being relayed throughout different texts. I believe that as long as you have the right strategies, reading comprehension can become a tool in anyones belt. There is a lesson in every text and that is a concept I will strive to be able to pass along to all my students. Outside of academics, I play the clarinet and spend most of my free time with the Marching Band at my school.

I currently hold a BA in Psychology and a MA in Education. For the past 17 years, I have worked in the field of early childhood education. I am passionate about helping students learn, by creating a learning environment that meets their personal needs. I enjoy teaching students according to their learning styles. I have considerable experience working with special education students with IEPs. In the past, I have tutored elementary students in all subjects, high school, and college psychology, and helped future teachers prepare for the Early Childhood Praxis exam.

I am a graduate of North Carolina Central University. There I received my Bachelor and Master of Art degrees in Criminal Justice with a focus on corrections and sociology. Since graduation, I have spent the majority of my career helping others, including helping individuals who have developmental and cognitive disabilities, as well as supervising others in their work with individuals with disabilities. Three years ago, when I decided to work from home, I found the joy of teaching English as a foreign language to children ages 5 through 17, and it has been a privilege to engage in this work. I've always enjoyed helping others, but I had no idea how incredibly fulfilling teaching would be. As a certified TESOL/TEFL instructor, I have taught students one-on-one for the past three years, and my favorite part of my work has been helping children grow confident in the abilities they don't realize they already possess. I am a firm believer in education because "Knowledge is Power." Knowledge and education grant opportunities in life, and I am dedicated to providing my students with access to those opportunities. Knowledge increases skills, makes goals attainable and enhances one's worldview. Gaining knowledge is a forever investment! In my spare time, when I am not continuing my own journey of lifelong learning, I enjoy reading, board games, watching basketball and football, and spending time with my family.

Hello! My name is Celene and I have a passion for helping young people become skilled learners! I began tutoring in college. As a student-athlete myself, I tutored and mentored the younger student- athletes who needed extra help in math. I also tutored my younger cousins and family members throughout the years. Now, I get to do what I love for a living as a middle school math teacher.
