As a Master's-level Special Education educator (University of West Georgia) with 5+ years of experience, I specialize in unlocking the potential of students who learn differently. My expertise spans elementary literacy and math to AP English Language, allowing me to provide high-level academic support through a lens of specialized instruction. I have experience teaching students with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and other learning challenges. I do not just teach subjects; I teach students how to navigate their neurodivergence. My approach integrates academic goals with essential life skills, including emotional regulation, frustration management, and executive functioning. I am an expert in implementing IEP and 504 accommodations, using differentiated strategies like visual mapping and scaffolded tasks to turn frustration into achievement. I foster a supportive environment where every learner feels valued, building the lasting confidence and independence they need to succeed.

As a tutor, teacher, and mentor, I strive to provide all of my students with the fundamental knowledge and skills they need to succeed in life. The English language, phonics, reading, writing, and general literacy are my main subjects of interest and expertise.
I graduated from MTSU with a B.A. in English and a minor in Religion. I tutored at the University Writing Center there, working with writers of all backgrounds and levels of experience. Typically, I saw a string of writers with little time to engage with them as individuals, so Im especially happy about having the opportunity to engage with students on a more substantive level. Im a creative writer who has worked on the staffs of multiple literary journals, and I always try to bring that creative perspective of language to my sessions, whether in my interactions with students or in my lesson plans. First, regardless of the subject, well look at the patterns present in the material, and then, well work our way into understanding the conceptual bases of the subjects at large. Tutoring should always be a collaborative effort that encompasses a way of learning beyond any particular subject. By the end of our sessions together, I hope that you will have learned how to teach yourself; fostering that sense of independence is my main goal.Even though I specialize in material geared toward the English language, the humanities, and the social sciences, I have a background in natural scienceecology and microbiologyand have done a fair amount of basic research in those areas. I am always happy to return to those roots with you! I work from multiple frameworks that adapt to not only each individual student, but also their progress and its ever-changing trajectories. Rather than relying on visual learning, which I myself tend to do, I try to connect the visual with the verbal in order to tune eyes and ears to the metaphors that are the basis of any subject. In my spare time, I write poetry, so I highly value fluidity and dynamism in all aspects of education. Because of my love for understanding the aural/verbal styles of learning, I tend to work well with multilingual students and others who are revisiting the process of learning and loving English! My academic background: After high school, I attended UT-Knoxville on a full-ride as a member of their Scholars Program. Overall, I was very successful with my college applications and can help you with all aspects of that process. Admittedly, I changed my major many, many times, but that journey has led me to my love of writing and a wealth of knowledge from diverse areas and subjects! My specialties include poetry and drama; definitely contact me if youre doing either!
Hi! I am a current sophomore attending MTSU. I am a psychology major with minors in biology and chemistry, and am also a pre-med student. My goal is to help you learn in any way possible that is comfortable for you. Even if I need to learn a new technique, my goal is to help you, and help you succeed
Teaching ExperienceI am a life-long learner and enjoy assisting students of all ages, with all sorts of subjects, developing that same desire. The desire to question, the desire to know that you know, not just that the instructor says that it is so. The ability to know accounting, to engage in successful public speaking, to start that business, to develop that presentation, is within the reach of all of us. The biggest thing that stands in the path of most students is an unwillingness to try. If one keeps in mind that on the road to accounting success, to public speaking success, to building that business, to completing that knock-out presentation, is that there will be bumps along the road but there are no road blocks!I have developed and delivered countless speeches, sermons, and seminars. I am proficient in all Microsoft office products, including PowerPoint and Word! I enjoy assisting, facilitating that learning experience in students of all ages. Of essence is your willingness to succeed, if that is there, if you are willing to put in the time, then we can master any material! Some of the courses I have facilitated include...FP/120 – Essential of Personal Finance – 3 credit hoursETH/316 – Ethics and Social Responsibility – 3 credit hoursACC/290 – Principles of Accounting I – 3 credit hoursACC/291 – Principles of Accounting II – 3 credit hoursACC/300 – Principles of Accounting – 3 credit hoursACC/421 – Intermediate Financial Accounting I – 3 credithoursACC/422 – Intermediate Financial Accounting II – 3 credithoursACC/423 – Intermediate Financial Accounting III – 3 credithoursACC/491 – Contemporary Auditing I – 3 credit hoursACC/492 – Contemporary Auditing II – 3 credit hoursACC/537 – Financial Accounting – 3 credit hoursBBA/373 – Applied Accounting for Business Decisions – 3credit hoursMBA/557 – Accounting Applications for Management – 3 credithoursIf you were to ask my students what sets me apart from other instructors they would tell you that I actually enjoy doing what I do, I am not just doing it for a pay check but rather, it is because I like seeing the light bulb go off with a student when they finally get a concept, when they have developed the confidence to accomplish a task, when they value knowing not just because it will help them with a test, an exam, or with homework, but because they actually have developed the skills that will enable them to know!
I am a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science in Audio Production with a minor in Spanish. I have always been drawn to writing and reading. This interest became a passion during my years in high school and college. I believe education is fundamental to success and it is my pleasure to give back what I received. I have been tutoring since I was seventeen years old and have always found it an extraordinary feeling to watch someone progress in whatever subject we have been working on. My personal creed for tutoring is to make sure the student is absolutely motivated. I have found motivation, not intelligence, to be the defining factor between an A and an F.
My educational background is in mathematics education. This means I studied how to do math and how students learn math. I graduated with a PhD from North Carolina State University and since then, I've taught math for K-12 future teachers as well as math courses for non-STEM majors. I also taught high school math before going to graduate school. I am passionate about helping students overcome their fear and anxiety about math. Math can be a difficult subject, but I enjoy helping students understand both the how and why of mathematics. I want my students to gain confidence in their abilities to problem solve.
I love reading and writing. My genres of preference are romance, fantasy, and sci-fi, but I'm open to reading any good story. All writers can learn from each other by helping each other whether it's through brainstorming or holding each other accountable for goals.
Hi! I'm Emerson, a sophomore at Middle Tennessee State University studying psychology with minors in criminal justice and art history. I'm also a Division I track athlete. I've studied French since age five and earned my Seal of Biliteracy in French. I enjoy helping students build confidence in subjects like French, psychology, reading, writing, and study skills in a supportive and encouraging environment.
As an educator, I am deeply passionate about inspiring, enriching, and empowering students across a wide range of areas within English and History. With over 20 years of experience teaching children, teenagers, adults, and consulting with parents, I firmly believe that learning is essential nourishment for the mind and that every individual is capable of growth. My expertise lies in various English subjects such as Phonics, Literacy, and more, while my background as a degree holder in History and an active Historian allows me to guide students of all levels with insight and precision. I live by the principle, "Each one, teach one," and it continues to shape my approach to education, mentorship and the success of my students, every day.
If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough. -Albert EinsteinAfter completing 4 years of work experience as a business valuation analyst and level 3 of the CFA program, I have taken some time to travel (before Covid) and begin teaching online. My expertise is in options, futures, forwards, swaps and other financial derivatives, which I studied both at Middle Tennessee State University and the London School of Economics. I gained valuable tutoring experience in university after being offered a position in the finance lab as a head tutor, and have since found that those skills have translated well to helping business students thrive at Varsity Tutors. While I also tutor other subjects including Spanish and College English, I have found working with professionals seeking designations or motivated college business students looking to get ahead to be a great fit for me.I now work in business development for a venture capital firm whose operators have created over $3.0B in exit value. I help make sure capital flows to the best and brightest entrepreneurs, and that risk-seeking investors are properly rewarded for their bets.I look forward to helping you advance.
I am a former teacher and current graduate student studying biology, but I love all areas of STEM, including algebra and chemistry, and geology. I am also an educator with ADHD, so I love to share executive function strategies like time management and organization to help students with similar struggles. My graduate research centers around making biology education at the undergraduate level more inclusive to all learners.
