A bit about me: I have graduated with honors from a STEM-focused school and am now pursuing an electrical engineering degree at Lehigh University. I have awards in mathematics and other technical competitions and I also got 790/800 on the math section of the SAT.I am motivated by the opportunity to inspire others and make complex concepts accessible, fostering a love for learning that extends beyond the classroom.

I love to help students learn languages -- both written/spoken languages and programming languages! I taught German and coding for 18 years in a high school and have been tutoring in coding and running a middle school coding club since retiring from that career. I have a Master of Education degree from Lehigh University and a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Kutztown University. I can tutor beginning and intermediate coding in languages like Python and JavaScript and can also tutor any level of the German language. My personal style tends to be rather gentle and easygoing. I am a good listener, and I try to guide students towards greater independence by helping them learn to find their own solutions.
During my time at The College of New Jersey, I have tutored many students in a variety of mathematical subjects and discovered a keen interest in it. I was there for two years and now have moved to Lehigh University where I will complete a MA in Mathematics in May. During my time here, I have been a teaching assistant for the various levels of calculus offered by the university and have had the opportunity of teaching students of all levels. Thus, it is obvious that my favorite subject to tutor is, in fact, calculus, but I am quite experienced in all other areas of mathematics as well. Since mathematics is such a conceptual subject, I find that by understanding misconceptions and errata, one might gain a better appreciation for the subject. Under this philosophy, I wish students to understand their errors fully, rather than simply being corrected when mistakes are made. Beyond the classroom, I enjoy playing table tennis, video games, and reading.
I graduated from Muhlenberg College with a degree in Psychology, and I am currently pursuing my Ph.D. in School Psychology. I am friendly and empathetic and really enjoy tutoring. I have a lot of creative ideas to teach students new material and have experience working with students of all ages. I look forward to the opportunity to work with all kinds of learners in a variety of different subject areas. I have a lot of tutoring experience, and I hope to use that knowledge and experience to work with many of you!
Hi, I recently graduated medical school with an M.D. degree and am now working as a doctor. I have also received a B.S. in biology and graduated with highest honors from Lehigh University in 2018. I have extensive experience serving as both a tutor and teaching assistant for various subjects. I work 1-on-1 with my students to develop a teaching method that is catered specifically to their unique learning style. My main expertise is in life science courses such as biology, chemistry, anatomy and physiology, organic chemistry, and biochemistry. I also provide standardized exam preparation, along with assistance in applying to or getting through medical school.
I greatly enjoying working with students and discussing math with them. My main goal is to make my students more confident with the material.
I graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Lehigh University with a BA in English (May 2012) and an MA in English (May 2013). During college I was part of a peer tutoring program for four years that focused specifically on writing across a variety of disciplines, and I've worked with students of all skill levels and backgrounds to improve the structure, organization, and efficiency of their writing. I'm currently an Editorial Assistant at a publishing house where I work with children's books. As you can see from my background, reading and writing are my passions both professionally and personally. I love sharing that passion in a way that meaningfully impacts the lives of others. More specifically, I am a huge proponent of the importance of communication, a skill that is essential in educational and professional development. I tutor in English, Literature, and writing. In my spare time, I enjoy reading (mostly young adult literature!), browsing bookstores and libraries, playing the piano, enjoying the outdoors, and watching as many sci-fi and action/adventure movies as I can get my hands on!
I graduated from Lehigh University with a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry. During my time in college, I spent my summers studying abroad in Paris and working on various scientific research projects. Before college, I taught abacus to students K-12 for 2 years. One of the most exciting parts of that job was helping young kids learn how to multiply big numbers using mental math! After graduating, I went to SUNY College of Optometry for 2 years, but decided to leave because it wasn't the right path for me. Even though I enjoyed Optometry, I realized it wasn't my true calling. If you're thinking about healthcare programs after college, I'd be happy to share tips on how to become a strong applicant and whether medical, dental, or optometry school might be a good fit for you. I specialize in science and math subjects, high school courses, and college entry exams like the PSAT, ACT, SAT, MCAT, OAT, and DAT. Whether you need help with high school subjects or want to know how to stand out as a college applicant, I'm here to assist. I'm passionate about learning and love helping students succeed and enjoy their studies. In addition to tutoring, I can also help with writing and reviewing essays for college applications, class papers, and more. I'm excited to work with you and help you achieve your goals. Let's strive for greatness together!
Science education or education of any kind is, in my understanding, sharing a passion with a people that you have formed a deep personal relationship with. In this respect, I make every effort to win the students over to my side by doing the small things that on the surface are in no way related to science. These small things would include: knowing their names and the pet names they use amongst themselves, knowing the meanings of their names and the etymologies of the names, memorizing their birthdays, noticing a bandage on a finger and taking deep concern in how they got injured, cleaning with them when they have cleaning duty, etc. I am cognizant of the impact of the personal touch on learning. The war to win the hearts is coupled with an aspiration to have a good command of my subject and effective lesson delivery. I take great effort to prepare for a 50min lesson especially for my middle school science classes. Preparing for small, exciting and meaningful lesson activities takes the bulk of my day. I aim to have all my worksheets contain clear instructions on the direction the lesson should take. Science education is experiential learning and I spare no effort to have all facts in science be derived out of an analysis of empirical evidence. "People generally remember 90% of what they do as they perform a task" according to American Educationist Edgar Dale in his treatise, Cone of Experience. To teach science is to provide direct purposeful experiences or taking students through the real experiences underlying a scientific phenomenon.
I believe that science should be made fun and relevant. In my teachings I use as many real life examples as possible. I do not emphasize memorization, but rather an understanding of the process and the relationships that exist. If one tries to learn science by memorization, there is simply too much information. However, if one understands the relationships that exist between factors, then one can apply a consistent process to solve the problem.I believe that all students want to know their teacher/tutor is in it with them. I strive to establish a personal connection with my students. That means I let them get to know me as a person to some degree and not just as a teacher. Once this connection is established, learning takes place at a faster pace.I am willing to do whatever it takes to help a student advance as long as the student is willing to put the effort in themself. I believe that education must be self-owned - that students have to claim their right to an education by demanding to be challenged and working to meet that challenge.
I am a sophomore at Lehigh University on the path to receiving my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in sociology. I have volunteered at Adventures in Learning, an after-school homework program, where I helped students K-6 with their homework of all subjects. I also volunteered at the New York Child Learning Institute where I worked with students with autism in every subject; it was an extremely rewarding experience and greatly strengthened my teaching skills. Finally, I worked for Grade Potential Tutoring and tutored 2nd and 4th grade English and writing as well as GED prep. My past experiences make me confident that I can help all students become stronger and learn to love learning! I have a love for education and believe it is a great opportunity that I am able to share it with other, and I try to give this appreciation to all of my students.
As an archivist/librarian, I am passionate about helping students understand how to find the information they are seeking and how best to refine their ideas in writing. I have an MS in Library and Information Science and a BA in English and German. My favorite subjects to teach are English literature, writing, and college preparedness.
Empowering students to think critically, build confidence, and turn challenging ideas into meaningful skills for school, work, and life with patient, practical tutoring that makes learning clear, engaging, and relevant.
I'm a recent graduate of Lehigh University where I received my Bachelor of Arts in International Relations. I also minored in psychology and Asian studies. I tutor the following subjects: middle school English, high school English, college English, and essay writing. I'm a recent graduate of Lehigh University who is extremely excited to begin tutoring. I was initially admitted into Lehigh's school of business and spent a year there before realizing my need to pursue my true passion for English. I graduated in only three and a half years with a Bachelor's degree in English as well as a minor in creative writing. Through my time at school I have peer edited countless papers, critiqued works of fiction, and written a considerable amount of my own material.Throughout my whole life I have spent much of my spare time reading books or writing creatively. My expertise is letters, words, sentences, paragraphs- how to create them, decipher them and think about them. If you have any problems with math, please do not consult me! Anything more advanced than multiplication tables is completely out of my jurisdiction. However, any struggle with the English language is firmly within my ability to remedy!I take a strong academic and social interest in global events, history, psychology, and much more. I constantly search for new information and am an avid learner with regard to both people and subject matter. I have a great deal of energy and am at times an irrepressible joker; some might say a class clown. When I am not in the classroom you are likely to find me playing soccer (played club soccer at Lehigh), basketball, or working out in the gym to ensure my health and fitness. I also love hanging out with my friends, listening to music, watching movies, and going for walks in the great outdoors. One thing that I am an expert in is connecting with people in order to make learning fun. I seek to foster a focused yet relaxed learning environment for my students in which their greatest academic potential can be realized. I am as fresh out of the hoop jumping competition of high school, standardized testing, and a prestigious university as it gets- and I want to help young adults who are in the same position that I've just been through in any way that I can.
I would be happy to help with whatever you need. I have a VERY diverse educational background. My degree, which is in Behavioral Neuroscience, consists of courses in Biology, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physics, English, Psychology, Calculus, and Bio-Statistics, and I also took courses in Japanese, History, Chinese Religion, Philosophy, and Theater (performance and production).Another reason to choose me - I worked for and was trained by one of the country's largest tutoring companies for more than two years, and within that short time became one of their best and busiest tutors. Believe me, busy is definitely an understatement. In those two short years, I taught well over 500 students in a classroom setting (in person) and well over 700 students online (through virtual class rooms, Skype, Google, etc). I've tutored one-on-one (in person and online) to well over 120 students. I was able to teach and tutor that many students in two main ways. I was able to tutor that many students in such a short time because I excelled at teaching/tutoring and because I truly invested myself in my students' success. I'm bringing all that experience with me to Varsity Tutors.I am experienced in academic tutoring from grade school through college including graduate level.I also have experience working with students that are home-schooled - especially when it comes to preparing them for entering high school or college. While I cannot guarantee scores like the ones I have, I do promise my very best to help you get your highest score or grades possible! If you have any questions - please feel free to ask. I'd be glad to answer them.THANK YOU for considering me to help you/your family.
