Greetings! Focused. Hard working. Experienced. Fast Learner. Dedicated. These are five of many characteristics necessary to fulfill the requirements of working with your scholar for tutoring and curriculum assistance, and these are five of many characteristics I possess. I want nothing more than to join you and your scholar for success. I am very organized and thorough and proficient in Microsoft Office on both PC and Mac. I am personable, responsible, and reliable. One of my greatest strengths is the ability to prioritize well. I know that I can fulfill each requirement of this position. My first introduction to office management was in 2009 when I joined Orange County Schools Child Nutrition Department as Office Support. I had many responsibilities including placing orders, maintaining inventory, and providing technical support to the 12 schools (and their managers) in our district. I also had clerical responsibilities in the form of answering phones, making copies, designing flyers and brochures, updating manuals, etc. Once I moved to Atlanta, Ga, I gained even more experience I joined the City of Atlanta in October of 2012 as the Recreation Operations Assistant. I had administrative tasks such as weekly reports, inventory spreadsheets, answering phones and greeting visitors. When the project coordinator left in July 2013, I assumed his responsibilities and maintain them even now. I check visitors in, maintain the facility, cleanliness, and assist visitors in our computer lab. I also submitted weekly reports, type and proofread memos, and complete all additional tasks in a timely manner. I gained more experience with After School All-Stars as a Program Manager over three middle school sites. I handled payroll via timesheet submission, ordered and delivered supplies, and had regular staff meetings. I oversaw 12 members per site and maintained calendars as well as securing field trips with booking and transportation details. When I joined Wings For Kids, I was the Administrative Assistant for After School at Bethune Elementary where I handled timesheets, reviewed program plans, worked with the school staff as well as overseeing 6-8 employees. Most recently, I was with Dekalb Preparatory Academy where I was assistant to the Principal, maintaining the front office, assisting parents, students, and staff, creating flyers, and various other duties. I would love to help your scholar in the capacity they need assistance with.

I am a kindhearted, friendly, professional, and highly trained teacher. I am extremely passionate about teaching; I find the position personally satisfying and beneficial to the students I work with. I am a great communicator and listener and can understand a student's needs. Enabling children to grasp the foundational knowledge and skills that they will use for the rest of their lives is a wonderful gift. A good education is, in my belief, the single most important thing we can impart to the younger generation. I am very motivated to equip young minds to learn more about History.I am graduated from Fayetteville State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History. I am a certified Secondary Social Studies teacher in the state of North Carolina. I like to use a variety of strategies to help my students understand the concepts they are being taught because I know that everyone learns in their own way. When I am not teaching or tutoring, I love spending time with my family. I am also a Women's Varsity basketball coach at the high school where I currently teach. The love of basketball is another passion of mine, along with hiking, traveling, and cooking.
As a child, one of my favorite games was to pretend to be a teacher. I never thought that what started as a game was going to become my current profession. I was born in Peru and I lived there until I graduated from college. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. After graduation, I moved to United States and started working as a teacher assistant in a middle school. After one semester working, I was offered a position to teach Spanish. Even thought I was hesitant about accepting the position, I knew that the opportunity was offered to me for a reason; therefore, I decided to take the position. Seven years later, I am still teaching and learning from this beautiful profession. During my seven years of experience, I attended Fayetteville State University where I obtained my Spanish teaching license. I have taught Spanish in middle school and early college. During this time, I also had the opportunity to tutor English as a second language (ESL) and Biology. I am currently working on one of the best early colleges in North Carolina, we were honored to receive a blue ribbon award last year. I am also pursuing a second Bachelor's degree focused in Biology. I feel that the double role I have as a teacher and student, allows me to stay grounded and remember what is it like to be a student. My teaching style adapts to my student's goals, and their previous knowledge. I like to implement teaching activities where students can put in practice what they have learned, therefore, a holistic and scenario-based approach is where I notice more growth when learning a language. During my spare time, I like to dance, watch movies, cook, find new things to learn, and spend time with friends and family. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me better.
Hello! I'm excited to share a bit about myself and my passion for helping students succeed. My name is Demetra Myers, most people call me Ms. D, , and learning should be an engaging and empowering experience. Outside of tutoring, you'll often find me engrossed in a good book or exploring new worlds through movies. My love for reading isn't just about entertainment; it's about a constant curiosity to understand diverse perspectives and dive deep into new subjects. This same curiosity drives my tutoring style, as I encourage students to ask questions, explore topics thoroughly, and develop their critical thinking skills. Similarly, watching movies has honed my ability to analyze narratives and understand how different elements come together to create a cohesive wholea skill I find invaluable when breaking down complex concepts into digestible parts for my students. My involvement in music has taught me the importance of rhythm, practice, and finding harmony, even in challenging pieces. I apply this same philosophy to learning: consistent effort, breaking down tasks, and finding the right "tune" for each student's unique learning style can make all the difference. Furthermore, my commitment to my church community has instilled in me a deep sense of empathy and a desire to foster a supportive and inclusive environment. Every student deserves to feel comfortable, respected, and encouraged in their learning journey. Above all, I'm passionate about learning new things and embracing new forms of technology that can enhance the educational experience. I actively seek out innovative tools and methods that can make lessons more interactive, personalized, and effective. Whether it's through dynamic online resources or collaborative digital platforms, I'm dedicated to leveraging technology to create a truly enriching and impactful learning environment for you. My goal as a tutor is not just to help you grasp difficult concepts, but to ignite your passion for learning and equip you with the skills to confidently tackle future challenges. I look forward to helping you achieve your academic goals!

I received my degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of NC at Greensboro. My Masters degree in Elementary Education from NC A& T State University. I later received another Masters Degree in School Administration from Fayetteville State University. I taught at the elementary level (PreK- 5th grade) for 10 plus years. I was an assistant principal for three years and then a principal for over 20 years. I recently retired in June of this year with over 37 years in education. As an administrator, I always visited my classrooms and worked with the children. An important part of my job as an administrator was to be in the classrooms watching and helping the students learn. While helping them learn, I also enjoyed taking a personal interest in the students to learn more about them as well as for them to know more about me. This helps create a great learning atmosphere and helps build relationships with students.
