As a graduate of Eastern Michigan University, I learned from the best how to teach the whole child. Learning is a lifelong process that should be enjoyed. As a teacher, I strive to help children not only understand the curriculum, but to see how it can be beneficial in their lives. My hope is that my students find their way through life making the best choices they can, and become best they can be using the tools given them.My degree is in Elementary Education, specializing in Science and Social Science. I enjoy teaching all subjects, but my favorites are reading, writing, and cooking. I have taught all ages in elementary school classrooms, and all subjects. In addition, I have led after-school science club, Sunday School, and tutored students who use English as a second language. My most recent experiences have been in physical education and art as a community volunteer.

Hello! I'm Ms. Marion, and I'm excited to help you reach your academic goals. I have nearly eight years of teaching experience, working with students in grades 512 in both traditional classrooms and online learning environments. My approach to tutoring is centered on each student's unique needs. I believe learning happens best when students feel supported, understood, and confident enough to ask questions. Math didn't always come easy to me, but what was important was never giving up! I started off as a C+ student in math, and now (10 years and MUCH studying later...) I am becoming a math teacher!

I work in interdisciplinary approaches to French literary studies, post-colonial studies, and Francophone studies, but my main goal is to help students and working professionals to understand and communicate in the French language and to reach their own goals in the language while developing an understanding of its rich and diverse cultures.
Memory updated Here's an enhanced version of your statement of purpose: With over 20 years of teaching experience, I have had the privilege of working with diverse learners across grades K-12, teaching a wide range of core subjects. Currently, I teach high school English at an alternative school, where I support students who have not found success in traditional public school settings. I hold certifications in English (K-12), Elementary Content (K-6), and Special Education (K-12), with extensive expertise in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to meet the specific needs of each student. My teaching philosophy centers on a student-first approach, where I prioritize building confidence, fostering critical thinking, and tailoring instruction to align with individual learning styles. I am passionate about making learning both enjoyable and impactful, ensuring that my sessions are not only focused on strengthening academic skills but also inspired by students' personal interests. My goal is to empower every learner with the tools they need to succeed and grow, no matter the challenges they face.
I have a PhD from Michigan State University in English with a special focus on African American Literature and History and Philosophy of Science. I have taught extensively at large research universities and small liberal arts colleges, covering wide ranges of subjects in writing, literary studies, critical theory, and philosophy of science. I am most proud of my work with STEM students, guiding them through writing classes and humanities and helping them make the most of their studies and develop transferable skills in qualitative analysis and written communication. Finding middle ground between different disciplines and skillsets has not only helped me work with a wide variety of students, but help them thrive in many different environments, as they enter industry, graduate school, medical school, or any future goals. Similarly I have a great deal of experience with GRE prep and applications more broadly, synthesizing the work students do in many disciplines into presentations of their skills and aptitudes.

I am a graduate of Eastern Michigan University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. I received my Masters in Early Childhood Education from Saginaw Valley State University. I have been a classroom teacher for the last 16 years and have tutored my students and others after school. My favorite subjects are language arts and science because that is what I find to be the most interesting. I believe every person can learn, however we all have our own way of learning. Tutoring allows me to get to know my students and use techniques that will help them learn. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends at home or out at activities around the community. I love to read and when I have time enjoy making a variety of crafts.
Whether in a computer science, Japanese, Worship Arts, chess, or other class, I have always loved helping other students learn. I am currently a Junior at Eastern Michigan University. I am majoring in computer science and minoring in mathematics - statistics. With great scores for English, writing, editing, science, and math on standardized tests and nearly straight A's in high school, I feel qualified to help others in these subjects. I want to meet students where they are at.
Education has always been a very important factor in my life. Ever since I was able to hold a job, I have given my time and energy to giving back to my community by way of working within the school system. I understand that by having a solid support system, a student is able to find ways to succeed. It is my mission to be a part of that support system for any student who may need it.
I am an upbeat educator devoted to promoting student learning and strengthening potential. I have 30 years teaching high school chemistry. I have a Bachelor's of Science degree and Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I love helping students learn chemistry and find that "ah ha" moment.
Over my 20-year career in academia, I have had the privilege of being a student or research academic at many universities -- including Princeton University, University of Alaska Fairbanks, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Eastern Michigan University, Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania, and Madison College. As a polymath graduating with highest honors, Summa Cum Laude (3.98 GPA), I earned a second bachelor's degree in Professional Geology with a noncompulsory minor in Earth Science (i.e., hydrologic and atmospheric sciences) from Eastern Michigan University in 2021.As part of my geology field work, I was one of a few individuals competitively selected from outside the University of Alaska to take part in UAF's prestigious summer field geology program. Given that my field work entailed cruising the Alaskan wilderness in bush planes to remote regions of the alpine tundra and learning how to fend against grizzlies, I have anything but a typical geology education. In addition to receiving many academic distinctions (fellowships, scholarships, and awards) across my career and several publications in world-class peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Paleontology, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and Current Biology, I have also had digital illustrations featured in publications such as Nature, The New York Times, New Scientist, and Discover Magazine. I was a student member of professional organizations such as The Geological Society of America, the American Institute of Professional Geologists, and more.I was previously Lead Instructor for a National Science Foundation supported education technology startup. I served approximately 10,000 secondary students over that career and have been lauded by educators in top-rated school districts for my capacity to distill complex ideas into easy to digest metaphors and analogies. No matter whether you are a high school environmental student, a gen-ed fulfilling undergraduate, or a budding geoscientist, if you want to academically succeed, contact me.
I enjoy helping students succeed and learn. I was a high school teacher for 17 years. I mostly taught mathematics. I taught some physics as well. I have a masters degree in physics, but most of the teaching opportunities I got were for mathematics.
I have been a firefighter, paramedic, and later professor. For thirty years I have enjoyed a background in fields that require strict attention to detail, writing and mathematic skill, and the ability to achieve goals often without receiving the whole picture.

As a dedicated educator with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Eastern Michigan University, I have over two years of tutoring experience alongside my role as a fifth-grade teacher. Understanding the unique needs of each student is at the heart of my tutoring philosophy; I focus on scaffolding their learning to build confidence and mastery. I find immense satisfaction in motivating students, particularly in math, where I draw from my own challenges to help them develop effective strategies. Outside the classroom, my love for reading and traveling enriches my teaching perspective, allowing me to connect lessons to real-world experiences.

I like to follow my previous supervisor's tutoring motto, which was "We work to put ourselves out of a job," meaning my goal is to help you until you don't need my help. I am a recently retired Secondary Math teacher. I taught at the high school level for 40 years. During that time I also tutored students after school. I have taught/tutored all classes from Algebra I to Pre-Calc, and I enjoy teaching and tutoring all Math subject areas. My last 15 years I primarily taught AP Statistics, Algebra II, Pre-Calc, and Trigonometry.I received my BS degree from Ferris State University and achieved a Masters Equivalent from Eastern Michigan University. As education has changed, so has my teaching philosophy. I view myself as a source, as opposed to the source of information. I try to get my students to not only know how to solve a problem but to understand why those steps have to be taken. I also encourage them to look for alternative ways to approach a situation. I believe these techniques help the students to develop a stronger understanding of Mathematics. In addition to teaching for 40 years, I also coached basketball and golf at the high school level, and I was a head varsity coach for both sports for over 25 years. At home I enjoy playing golf, working on my lawn and garden, bird watching, and working out.

Now, having taught all levels of Spanish, I understand the vertical alignment necessary to progress through each level and how to encourage the learner to advocate for themselves.
I graduated from The University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and finished a Masters in Biology at Eastern Michigan University. I enjoy helping others, which included teaching kids at my church, tutoring middle and high school students during study hall, working with youth in after school programs, helping adults who wish to improve their English, and helping friends who home school their kids. My most preferred subjects are Biology and Economics because I like knowing how things work and how people think on a larger scale. While it is important to know facts or the application of facts, I feel that learning how to learn and critical thinking are important and are built on the foundation of a trusting relationship existing between the tutor and the student. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, following professional sports, boardgames, cooking and eating.
I am a passionate and creative individual who goes above and beyond for the things and the people I care about in life. Personally, I have found that my true place in life is with youth from urban backgrounds and helping them overcome the boundaries and barriers set before them due to their individual circumstances.I firmly believe that success is determined by ones ability to aide others in their journey through life towards success. Teaching, tutoring, mentoring and nurturing students is what I was created to do and my instruction runs parallel with this belief. As a Graduate of Eastern Michigan University's College of Arts and Sciences and a 2012 Masters of Arts in Education recipient from the University of Phoenix, I have found my place in this world. My goal is to guide students to their place.
I think that knowledge is power and the children are our future. I once dreamt of being a high school math teacher but resigned to studying economics in lieu of this dream. I like the relative certainty of mathematics and look forward to tutoring more people.

I am an energetic, creative, driven, always learning and revising teaching style teacher. I strive to create a cooperative, safe, and accepting learning community where all students are welcomed. Tutoring is about working together as a team to meet your goals, not me forcing all the information on you. Want to join my team?
From the time I was five years old I knew I wanted to be a teacher. It was an unshakable desire in my bones. It comes naturally to me, no matter the setting. In both my current and former positions I worked with other professionals to develop new methods of teaching, development of curriculum and training for both adults and students, and structure the content in the most effective way to deliver the information to the target audience. I am familiar, confident, and comfortable with multimedia in various forms and can apply them to most efficiently deliver educational content. My communication skills allow me to educate others in a way that is easily understood by all modalities of learners. I have a breadth of knowledge in regards to learning theory and use this information to help me guide instruction and professional development. Former and current coworkers as well as students have expressed that the ways I take the subject matter and develop instruction and development truly help them understand the content.
I am an experienced teacher who is dedicated to helping people improve their language skills. I've been a teacher for the last ten years with a diverse background. Teaching is my passion. It is the only job I see myself doing. I feel most comfortable when in front of a class or helping others on an individual basis.I first starting tutoring in 2001 while studying to be a secondary English teacher at Eastern Michigan University. This experience helped kindle my passion for teaching, especially working with students one on one. After receiving my bachelor's degree in English education, I went back to my alma mater to refine my knowledge in English literature and writing. While studying for my MA in literature, I worked closely with my classmates in study groups. We helped each other break down difficult texts into their essential parts, thus making class discussions and term papers easier to manage. After graduating with honors, I started working at a small community college in Dearborn, Michigan. At Henry Ford Community College, I taught two sections developmental composition. My classes focused on grammar, usage, voice, and creation. Most of my students were either students who spoke English as their second language or who were first generation college students. After a year at HFCC, I spent seven years teaching English as a foreign language in South Korea. I mostly worked with elementary and middle school students, but I did have some adult students as well. I loved helping non-native English speakers improve their language skills, and I loved seeing my younger students develop in all language areas.Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading, listening to music, and spending time with my wife and dog. I am an avid reader who enjoys all genres of writing. I also enjoy listening to all sorts of music and discovering new bands and/or artists.
I'm here to help you! My job as a tutor is to help provide the knowledge and skills to become an independent learner and get students thinking about what they need to do to be successful. I love to have a relationship with my students that makes them feel comfortable so that they can ask the questions they need ot ask in order to become a better student. Lots of students have anxiety, and I specialize in alleviating anxiety in order to help students to be at their best for the big test!
I am a graduate of Eastern Michigan University where I received my Bachelor of Science with a focus on Special Education and Elementary/Middle School Education. Since graduation, I have taught a wide range of students, often writing curriculum or modifying the existing curriculum to meet the needs of each individual student. I am most passionate about English Language Arts (Reading Comprehension, Reading Fluency and Writing) and Mathematics. I believe that these two subjects are important for success throughout life, but that the approach used to teach these subjects should be more individualized as everyone's brain works differently. Something that I tell my own children when they are struggling.
I attended Eastern Michigan for both a BA and MA in literature. Additionally, I worked through half of a counseling degree before I accepted a job in New Mexico. I began my career working with students and continued for my entire professional life, almost twenty years. Not only have I interacted with students in the classroom as an instructor but also outside the classroom as a tutor/counselor/adviser. For example, I have developed, implemented and coordinated a variety of student academic and development programs. More specifically, I can assist students with just about any type of writing assignment: from development of ideas to organization to editing. Further, I can assist with literary analysis and interpretation. Study skills, organization, in-class essays, test-taking are important skills students should develop to be successful, and I can assist in those areas. For many people, public speaking and delivering a presentation causes anxiety and fear, but with a few helpful steps, it does not have to do so. One reason is that my approach to tutoring focuses on helping develop the skills necessary to be successful. Some need just a little guidance while others require a bit more structure. So there is a lot of discussion about the assignment, its goals and objectives and creating a process that addresses those areas. When I am not teaching, I like to hike throughout Red Rock and write film and Walking Dead reviews. I also have a strong passion for animal rights and am an excellent source for various perspectives on that topic from health to environment to morality. My dog’s name is Parlay, and besides licking my face too often, she’s great.
Hi! My name is Margaret. I love growing flowers & indoor plants, cooking, and long walks with my dog and fianc. I also love math.
I have been interested in education most of my adult life. I earned a Bachelor's degree in 2004 in Physics Education with a minor in Mathematics from Eastern Michigan University. While I was studying for my degree, I began my tutoring by working as a communal tutor for the physics department in the winter of 2002. Soon after, I began my time as an online tutor in the fall of 2002. Once I finished my degree, I worked as a high school teacher for two years, teaching math and physics. I maintained my online tutoring job on the side. I have also taught at the college level for over 4 years part-time. All combined, I would say that I have over 10 years of experience.
Teaching students is my passion. I have been teaching and coaching for 20 years. I have taught General Education, Special Education, High School, Middle School, and Elementary students. I received my Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Eastern Michigan University, and am currently a Doctoral student there as well. Outside of teaching I like to coach. I have coached Football, Men's and Women's Basketball, Softball, and Baseball, although currently I am only coaching Football. My major hobby is Reading. I enjoy reading almost anything, but I particularly like Historical novels and Biographical novels. My reason for tutoring is to provide support for students who are currently experiencing difficulty in a subject area where I may be able to help. My background in Special Education has taught me to look at teaching from different outlooks to help students achieve success, instead of attacking a subject from just one direction.
