I am an expert in Mathematics. I am happy to offer tutoring services for anyone who wants help learning Mathematics. Helping others has always been a major passion of mine, and I am thrilled that I have the opportunity to pass my knowledge and skills on to others.I earned my Masters degree in Statistics and Applied Mathematics, and my Bachelors degree was in Mathematics and Economics. I first started working as a Math tutor during my undergrad years, and I continue to help students to this day. Through the years, I have worked as both a classroom teacher, as well as a private tutor. As a tutor, I have taught at several colleges, learning centers and even private homes. Most of my students are Middle School, High School, or College students who either need extra assistance in Math or are looking to get ahead and learn advanced material. With my help, students improve their grades and gain confidence in their Math skills. Additionally, I also regularly assist students in preparing for the Math sections on important Standardized Tests, such as the SAT and the ACT. Most of my students report that they achieve highly-desirable results on these tests thanks to my help.I teach my students how to recognize patterns and how to apply appropriate problem-solving techniques whenever they encounter a certain type of problem. Math is all about recognizing problems and applying the appropriate steps in order to reach a solution. Once a student knows how to recognize problems and use the correct techniques to reach a desired outcome, they can accomplish almost anything in Math.My favorite aspect of tutoring is having the ability to teach something I love, while also working to improve the lives of others. It gives me great joy whenever I am able to help a student overcome their obstacles and achieve success. I really enjoy Math, and I want to show my students that Math can be fun and exciting with a little bit of practice. I believe that anyone can learn Math if they put their mind to it.

I have over 23 years of ACT/SAT/PSAT tutoring experience, initially in a class setting with Kaplan, then, independently, as a personal tutor. I don't just give students problems and show them how to solve; rather, I teach them the basic concepts the problems are based on and ensure they have the skill sets to complete the problems independently. I have tutored ALL sections on both the SAT and ACT; I am a generalist: capable tutoring Critical Reading, Writing, Math or Science. I am a graduate from New York Law. I am heavily interested in Finance, Law, and Politics. I have been tutoring the Law School Admissions exam since 2017 and have had many successful students. I have studied using many different test prep companies, and I believe in putting an emphasis on methodology and test taking strategies. I also have access to every test administered by the LSAC. I have an abundance of material to work on from previous administrations. All my students will receive LSAT tutoring but also help with the application process and with law school. After my students have taken their exams, we begin with constructing the application for acceptance and finally I have plenty of law videos and outlines to help get students prepared for their first year of law school.

I am graduate of The College of Staten Island, NY, where I completed both my Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees. In regards to my Bachelor, I majored in accounting, with minors in finance and economics. My master focused on elementary education. I am also a certified grant writer and a certified building administrator (ex. coaching, supervisor/Asst. Principal). I have always been passionate about educating myself, and others who I come into contact with. I am presently working on my doctorate in curriculum and instruction. My favorite subjects are Math and Reading. I truly believe that without mastering those two, one will always struggle with the other subjects. I have been an educator over 20 years and have had the pleasure of successfully sharing my knowledge with many students over the years. Every Saturday, I volunteer to serve at our neighborhood pantry. On a personal note, I have a wonderful 9yr old chihuahua named Candy who loves to play a lot. I even taught her how to play soccer, and she loves riding in the car. I love gardening, cooking and going for daily walks with my neighbors. Hi everyone! My name is Alexandria! I have worked and been in the education system for the last six years. I have worked with many students from pre-k to eighth grade, as a paraprofessional and teacher, and currently certified to teach students from K-12. Many of my students have different learning abilities and with my "meet them where they're at approach" I am able to create a plan to help my students succeed in a way that is individualized and tailored to their own needs. I have an undergraduate degree, and am currently working on my professional degree while holding a license in the Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages. Both degrees have to do with English and language proficiency, however not limited to those subjects. My Bachelor of Arts degree is in Science Letters and Society, which is a degree created for future teachers. The workload for this degree entailed a thorough study of the foundations of English, literature, mathematics, social science, physical science, society, and the cultures of people and the societies in which they live. My professional degree, one that I am still going to school for, is in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), which grants me the opportunity to teach students whose native languages are different than that of English. Moreover, my professional degree entails a thorough study of linguistics and phonics, the application of such, and how to be culturally relevant throughout the practice. I look forward to working with you!

I'm Gihan! I have over 12 years of experience in teaching in the New York State public school system and working directly with students, one-on-one as a tutor! I offer tutoring services for children (regular and special needs), in grades KG-8 in all core subjects. My experience has enabled me to strengthen essential skills such as communication, engagement, delivery, & creativity, in order to perfect my craft of educating children. There is nothing more satisfying to me than instilling confidence in a child & the rewarding feeling of witnessing them have that "aha!" moment when finally grasping a topic, is why I do what I do.Being able to provide a one-on-one session for a child, giving them my full attention, and catering each specific lesson plan to meet their individual needs, is in my opinion the most effective way to educate. In my years of teaching and tutoring, I have received phenomenal feedback from both parents and students due to my efforts in constantly seeking more ways to keep students engaged, make learning fun, and most importantly, relating the topic at hand to everyday life so they understand WHY they are learning each topic.Having strong content knowledge about the required curriculum and relate it to their grade level standard is so important. Most of my experience is in teaching the Common Core curriculum. Therefore, utilizing new/in-depth mathematical tools such as Eureka math (also known as EngageNY) is something that I enjoy, as it makes it simple for students to relate to everyday lifeI want students and parents to know that I have a genuine interest in helping children and help them gain as much knowledge as possible. After all, they are our future and we as the adults all have to be mindful of the impact we have on each individual child's life and have their best interest at heart. I am only a message away if you are seeking my tutoring services and look forward to replying back as soon as possible!

I know that they usually understand or master the topics I teach them, because I informally assess them at the end of the session and their results are at or above the level they are expected to be at. I would also be delighted to provide services for the NYS history regents, and essay writing assistance. I believe that every student is unique, and needs to be approached with a teaching style which fits their needs. Some students need more time on certain subjects than others. The student will receive one-on-one tutoring, and we will move forward at a pace that best suits the needs of the students. I have worked with many "difficult" students, and they were extremely cooperative with me and we had many pleasant experiences together in the classroom. I am bilingual in the Spanish language as well and have been tutoring students from elementary school up to college for over 8 years. As a professional tutor, my goal is to make sure that a student learns to study and learn the smart way. To do so take the following steps: Assessing, Reinforcing, and Applying. Since no student is completely unfamiliar to the subject he is struggling with, I go ahead and assess the depth of his knowledge of that subject. From that assessment, I address what needs to be reinforced, sort of like putting pieces of a puzzle together. All this using the already known Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetic (VAK) learning styles.
