I am a Colorado State University student in Mechanical Engineering. I work as a Physics and Calculus tutor on Campus both privately and during office hours. I am also an Engineering Mentor for the Incoming students in Engineering each year. I have experience with courses from chemistry to mathematics and physics. I am in Pi Tau Sigma, the mechanical engineering honor society, and genuinely love the subject matter with which I work.I also have a minor in Business Admin as I had originally begun a business degree and then transferred to the college of engineering. Therefore, I am also prepared to tutor in business math (statistics, calculus, finance) as well as management or introductory business coursework.I hope to earn my Master's and PhD in engineering eventually, but I also like hiking, sports, running and just about anything athletic or outdoors. Working on cars and learning new areas of STEM, like 3-D printing, are also hobbies.I take my job seriously; I have seen many students achieve grades they were ecstatic about, but also I have seen rising self-confidence and independent problem solving skills rise. Both benefits are a function of how effective the teacher is as well as how eager to learn the student is.

As a former high school teacher, business professional, and current statistician I know and believe in the value of mathematics in today's society. I have a Master's of Science in Natural Resource Management and Environnental Interpretation from Colorado State University. An undergraduate in Communications (Speech, English and Theater) from West Chester University. I taught high school and began my own businesses after graduating college. I serve on non-profits and also teach through them. I traveled extensively, learning a great deal from teachers and elders of many cultures around the world. I pursued advanced degrees at Colorado State University, ran a large non-profit for the University and taught classes in many subjects in natural resources, creative writing, public speaking and organizational start ups and operations. I earned Masters of Science in Environmental Interpretation and Natural Resource Management from CSU and was awarded the Outstanding Teacher Award for the University in experiential teaching. I was an advisor for approximately 50 students each year while with the University.I am also a life coach and have worked with people in that way as well.Twelve years ago I founded a non-profit with a group of people. Our goal was to teach about nature, sustainable living and the wisdom of past cultures. It was also a platform from which I could offer students help in creative writing, public speaking and personal growth courses. I am a public speaker at many conferences and in the classroom and I have had two books published. A couple of years ago I created the White Otter Academy to bring "Wisdom from the past magically stirred with knowledge from the present as a catalyst to transform your future."I coined the phrase "energetic alchemy" to define how I often teach. I take the 'iron' nuggets of knowledge I have acquired, add my own understandings, mix them together magically and .. often - gold emerges thanks to my teachers. I believe true growth occurs from the acquisition of both formal and informal education. With that said, I require a large dose of fun in any teaching or tutoring I do. I'm currently earning a BS in Biology as a transfer student from Colorado State University. I am also a nationally certified pharmacy technician. I have two younger sisters in middle school and high school that I've tutored for years, but I love tutoring all age groups. Originally from California, I spent much of my academic career there, earning my B.A. in Psychology at San Francisco State University and starting graduate studies in Psychology (Behavioral Neuroscience focus) at Sacramento State University. Since moving to Fort Collins, Colorado in 2011, I have obtained an M.S. at Colorado State University with the focus of my studies and research being Cognitive Psychology. I have taught small labs and lecture courses at CSU for the past four years as a grad student, where the main skill objectives for the classes were: writing APA style, psychology concepts, designing and conducting research, and analyzing research using statistics. I have also had opportunities to teach high school students during a few different summer programs, teaching such topics as Sleep and Dreaming, and The Brain. I enjoy mentoring students as well and have had many discussions with undergraduate research assistants about preparing and applying for grad school, GREs, writing personal statements, etc. Outside of academia, I love to get outdoors, either hiking and climbing in the summer, or snowboarding in the winter.Thank you!
