In order to create a genuine interest in the subject matter, I consistently create interesting a relevant real-life examples. While using fresh and fun examples, I break down subject matter into "bite sized" pieces that build on each other. By breaking down the material, information is much easier for students to digest. This strategy has been particularly successful for my students in the past!While I have had a lot of success in school, I did not always start out that way. I struggled with math in elementary school until I had a tutor who broke down the material for me and made it fun, accessible and engaging. Not only did that tutor peak my interest in learning, she inspired me to overcome my academic challenges. I enjoy helping students with high school and college level math problems. I have been tutoring math online for the past 8 years. I like to make each tutoring session as student-centered as possible by letting the student do as much work as he or she can.

I am a few months away from earning a B.S. in biochemistry at California State University of Fullerton. During my time as an undergraduate, I tutored both high school and college level students. I tutored mainly biology and chemistry (CP, honors, AP and SAT II), as well as college level chemistry and biology. I am a retired educational professional, who missed teaching students, so I have been working for Varsity Tutors for the last year.
