I graduated from Berklee College of Music, in Boston with a graduate degree in Professional Music. With this degree came lots of quality experiences performing and teaching as a professional saxophonist. My time in the music industry and education industry has allowed me to work alongside incredible musicians and students. It brings me joy to see my students succeed. I am a strong believer that if you really put your mind to something, you can certainly achieve it. This is the mentality I always carry with me when working with my students. During my free time, I enjoy traveling and exploring the rich culture of Jamaica!

I have two Master's degrees in Education: (1) Teachers College Columbia University (Master of Education - Education Leadership); (2) Montclair State University (Master of Arts in Teaching). I have been teaching middle school mathematics and tutoring for my school's After School Youth Development Program for the past nine years. I also started my own after school program focusing on incorporating online resources for mathematics instruction. During my tenure, I increased my school's proficiency rate on the NJ ASK, New Jersey's end-of-year standardized assessment, by over 33 percent. In 2011, I was asked to lead the implementation of our new Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) program by Project Lead the Way, which is one of the leading providers of STEM education curricular programs in the country. In addition to teaching, I served as a member of the Connections to Algebraic Thinking Focus Group for my district. Our group was tasked with adjusting the middle school curriculum to better prepare students for the study of Algebra. I also completed the Emerging Leaders Program offered by the national nonprofit organization, New Leaders. The program helped strengthen my leadership and coaching skills and focused heavily on using data to drive instruction. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, rock climbing, longboarding, and skiing.

My experience both as a professional player and as an owner of a record label has awarded me the opportunity to understand the music industry in great detail. In teaching I have students from begginers to professional adults. I listen to what my students are interested in learning and proceed to give them the best advice and methods for them to accomplish their goals. With saxophone students you can tune somewhat with the mouthpiece but I teach Joe Allards approach where the saxophone is harmonically organized.

Hello. My name is Kevin! I am an entertainment business graduate from Berklee and have experience working in the Kpop music industry. I have noticed over the past decade that Korean culture has become quite popular; as a Korean-american I am very proud to see Korea turn from a struggling country to a country that is shining light to the world. Through our sessions I will strive to teach in depth the Korean language and the nuances of Korean culture. Through our interactions, I also seek to understand the reasons for the intrigue into Korean culture. I want my classes to be fun so I will be referencing and using Korean entertainment in my lessons to make the classes more fun and enjoyable! Thanks you!
Nice to meet you! My name is Kourtney and I'm excited to be your music tutor whether it's for music theory or learning an instrument. I believe in bringing humor, positivity, and reassurance into my tutoring/teaching because learning music can seem to be a bit strenuous at times. But all it takes is a positive vibe and patience, and then music is fun to learn! I professionally tutored students in Music theory since 2020 and I've been teaching flute for since 2023... In terms of taking the AP Music Theory Exam, I scored a 4 when I took the test so I'm confident in helping students score high on their upcoming exams :)
