Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Madelyn in Catalina Foothills, AZ
Today we were able to complete the first six sections of the math problems. We reviewed lines and angles, long division, fractions, decimals, addition, and symmetry. He did very well on these exercises. He received a small quiz on adjectives by describing his parents and himself. He scored well having made only one adjective agreement error.

I met with the student at the library Friday afternoon. Very respectful young man and he was engaging. We spoke about goal setting and his goals in life. He has shopping and homework to do before we meet again so that he can put a study plan together.

I reviewed the student's annotations and notes on the psychological journal article, and gave her further direction. (Put notes and key word definitions into own words for future studying and checking understanding, and focus on main ideas/thesis statements and supporting details while taking notes.) We then reviewed organization, specifically using the weekly planner and in reference to notebooks or binders for class notes and handouts. I suggested that she attempt to color code her planner and notebooks in order to help her stay organized. I gave her a short story to annotate, as well as another video to watch and take notes on; she will have a short, timed writing assignment on the video when I see her next.

Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Courtney in Catalina Foothills, AZ
The student and I worked on writing and preparation for the coming school year. She finished the last draft of her essay, and we discussed her schedule and Spanish course. I asked her to continue reviewing her Spanish flashcards at home for 15 minutes each day. I showed her where to find the free version of the conjuguemos website, and we spent half of the session running present tense verb conjugation drills. We meet again on Sunday because she is still in summer color guard / band practice.

Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Suzanne in Catalina Foothills, AZ
We discussed how difficult it was for the student to get all her work done in a timely fashion in U.S. History. Solutions we came up with were to devote some time over the weekend to complete at least half of the "scour" portion of her Guided Reading packets and also to fill in the corresponding blanks on her test prep packets at the same time. It was decided that she should do that so that she is getting both done without having to spend more time. I gave her a deadline to have all her "scour" portions of the Guided Reading done by Tuesday, when I'm scheduled to see her again. We will discuss how that went and focus on the test she has coming up.
