If you're interested in getting a little help with your ACT review, Varsity Tutors can get you set up with a Spokane ACT class led by an expert instructor. High school juniors and seniors attending institutions like Lewis & Clark High School have the opportunity to take one of two primary college admissions exams: the ACT or the SAT. If opt to take the ACT to demonstrate your readiness to your preferred colleges, you must prepare to put your best foot forward. Let Varsity Tutors help you enroll in an online class that can fit into your schedule.
The ACT consists of five sections (four of which are required) that aim to measure the abilities and skills needed to succeed academically at a collegiate level. Whether you've just begun looking into your test review options or you've been studying independently and could use a little support, a collaborative course may provide the guidance you need to make the most of your time before the exam.
What could a Spokane ACT course help me review?
The ACT is a comprehensive assessment of the skills and knowledge you should have gained throughout your education. There are four mandatory sections: Math, Science, Reading, and English. You can choose to take the ACT or the ACT Plus Writing, which features the same sections of the former with the addition of a fifth section in Writing. The ACT allows students up to two hours and 55 minutes to complete the exam, with an additional 40 minutes for those who choose to include the Writing section.
The first section we will take a deeper look at is the Math section. You have 1 hour to complete 60 questions, which means you have a total of 1 minute per multiple-choice problem. These questions focus on a variety of different concepts, such as problem-solving, modeling expressions, functions, and data collection. You will need to demonstrate your knowledge of subjects like coordinate and plane geometry, intermediate algebra, and trigonometry.
You have 35 minutes to complete the 40 questions in the Science section of the ACT. This portion serves to assess your ability to interpret, analyze, evaluate, reason, and solve problems. You will face questions about scientific procedures and investigation, Earth and space sciences, data manipulation, and other topics. These skills are vital to your success in college, whether you intend to pursue a scientific career or have set your sights elsewhere.
There are 40 multiple-choice problems in the Reading section, which you have 35 minutes to complete. The questions on this portion relate to the passages presented, which may focus on a variety of different subjects. Your ability to comprehend new material can make a difference in how well you do in college. You will face questions that ask you to identify themes within a passage, define new words and phrases, and draw connections between different passages, among other valuable skills.
Finally, there is an English section. There are 75 questions on this portion, though you only have 45 minutes to complete them. Like the Reading section, questions are based on passages and aim to assess your ability to understand and use the written English language. You will need to understand writing styles, idea development, sentence structure, and other concepts.
If you choose to take the ACT Plus Writing, you will need to be prepared to make the most out of the 40 minutes you will have to compose your response. Your essay will need to be thoughtful, coherent, and organized. You should focus on analyzing and making strong connections between perspectives.

...I dreaded English and performed poorly in my classes. But when my teacher asked me to try and relate to the characters I was reading about, this allowed me to articulate my responses in the form of essays very effectively. And in the subjects that I performed well in school, I noticed that I intrinsically loved those topics. Thereby, learning first starts with developing an interest in the subject material you are pursuing, and only...
