Garrett Hazelwood recently completed a term as interim prose editor of The Southern Review. His MFA is from Louisiana State University, where he taught English composition and was the 2017 and 2018 recipient of the Kent Gramm MFA Award for Literary Nonfiction. He's currently at work on an essay collection about his experiences as a commercial fisherman in Alaska.

Always teach at the appropriate level...first listen to the student, understand their needs and goals, and then provide both comprehensive academic assistance and emotional support to help them attain those goals. If you can't understand the student, you can't teach them effectively.

I am a recent graduate of the University of California, Berkeley. I majored in history and completed a high honors awarded thesis. I am passionate about academia and education.
