Medical students in the Salt Lake City, Utah, area who are looking for professional Salt Lake City MCAT prep can benefit from getting in touch with Varsity Tutors. Whether you are looking for a quick review of the information that you will be tested on during the exam or you are looking for private instruction where you cover your specific needs in more depth, getting professional MCAT help can help you pursue the medical school of your choice, whether that be the University of Utah School of Medicine or any other school.
The MCAT, or Medical College Admission Test, is administered in a controlled environment on computers. Virtually all medical schools in the United States will take your scores on the MCAT into account when determining whether or not you would make a good fit for the school. That's why it is so important to prepare properly for this test.
What will be covered on the MCAT?
The Medical College Admission Test will have four sections. Each section will have its own score. However, all four scores will be combined to create a final score as well. The questions will be multiple-choice.
The first section is Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems. This section will test your knowledge of topics such as biology, biochemistry, physics, and chemistry. You will be asked questions about the biological system and the chemical and physical mechanisms that underlie them. You will have one hour and 35 minutes to complete the 59 questions in this section.
The second section is Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills. This section will not focus on testing your knowledge of any specific subject. Rather, it will focus on your general reading comprehension, critical thinking, reasoning, and analysis skills. You will be presented with nine passages, which will cover various topics. You will have one and a half hours to complete the 53 questions in this section.
The third section is Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems. You will be tested on topics such as organic chemistry, biology, and biochemistry. In this section, you will be asked questions about various living organisms. Skills that will be required for this section will include critical thinking, scientific reasoning, scientific inquiry, and more. You will have one hour and 35 minutes to complete the 59 questions in this section.
The fourth section is Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior. As its name suggests, this section will focus on mental health issues, including psychological issues. At the same time, it will ask you questions about social issues, such as how different societal issues can influence human behavior and human health. You will have one hour and 35 minutes to complete the 59 questions in this section.
What is the best kind of Salt Lake City MCAT prep?
There are two great options when it comes to preparing for the MCAT in Salt Lake City. The first option is signing up for a Salt Lake City MCAT prep course. This way, you can study with other medical students. These courses can be taken over the course of either two weeks or four weeks.
One of the benefits of taking a Salt Lake City MCAT prep class is that you can take these classes over the internet without ever having to leave your home or school. At the same time, you can interact with other students as well as an expert instructor. You can ask the instructor questions, and you can even get some private time with the instructor. You can also discuss issues that you do not fully understand during class sessions.
The instructor of the class can cover the topics on the exam in depth and provide practice questions that are similar to the kinds of questions that are present on the actual MCAT. This can help you and the other students get used to answering questions under time limits, just like you will need to do on the day of the actual test.
Some students prefer to study with a Salt Lake City MCAT tutor. This way, you can study in a private environment. A tutor can work with you online or come to your home or school. We work to find you a tutor with availability that overlaps with yours so that you can set up sessions on a schedule that works for you.
With a private instructor, you can study at your own pace. You can focus on the areas in which you need additional help. Some students will be fine when it comes to questions on the Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems exam but have a difficult time with the skills required in the Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills section. In such a case, a private mentor would be able to focus more of your study sessions on developing the proper skills required for the Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills section. A private instructor can come up with a study plan that covers all of the areas in which you need extra help.
A third option, which is also very beneficial, is taking a course while also getting private instruction. One of the benefits of doing this is that you will be able to review all of the information and skills required for the test but still be able to put an extra emphasis on certain areas in which you are lagging behind.
