What materials are covered in a Salt Lake City ACT class?

Your Salt Lake City ACT class will provide you with assistance via a knowledgeable approach to understanding ACT material. Though the questions may not be the same as what is on your actual exam, the question types and subject categories covered in the Salt Lake City ACT class remain the same. The ACT categories include an optional Writing section combined with the mandatory categories of Reading, Math, Science, and English. There are two response types you will encounter: multiple choice and passage-based responses. The total test time is just under three hours without counting time for breaks.

One of the five sections that are part of the ACT is Writing, which is optional. This section allows you to display your composition skills. You will be presented with one question and will be given 40 minutes to provide a written essay response. As you write your answer, you will be asked to select one of three given statements, then make a relevant connection between the two. Your Salt Lake City ACT course can assist you in strengthening your composition and writing skills, so you maximize your opportunity to do your best on the writing section of the ACT.

The Reading portion of the ACT requires you to use your critical reading skills combined with your reading comprehension abilities. You are encouraged to use each of the 35 minutes you are allotted wisely in order to answer all of the 40 questions presented within the reading section. You will be asked to respond to multiple-choice and passage-based questions. Topics that are included within the Reading section of the ACT may ask you to differentiate between fact and fiction, summarize ideas found within provided written texts, and showcase your ability to identify multiple types of relationships in writing. It's important to note the questions are created with the common practice of being based on a first-year college curriculum.

Once you begin the Math section of the ACT, you will have questions that include pre-algebra, elementary and intermediate algebra, geometry and trigonometry. The questions are presented to you in multiple-choice formats. It would be wise to review common mathematical concepts, including your ability to read and interpret data from graphs, functions, reliable measurement calculations, and equation interpretation. You will be given 60 minutes to answer all 60 questions.

The Science section is presented in multiple-choice format, and you will be tested on your current knowledge of biology, physics, earth sciences, and chemistry. You have 35 minutes to answer 40 questions. You should consider reviewing concepts that pertain to the designs of experimentation, scientific investigation, and the scientific method.

Just like in the Reading section, the English section of the ACT will present you with a number of questions in multiple choice and passage-based formats. Here you will have the opportunity to display your language skills. Topic development, style, tone, language use, and thought organization are some of the concepts that are tested within the English section of the exam. You will have 45 minutes to answer 75 questions to complete the English portion of the ACT.
