High school students, such as those who attend Judge Memorial Catholic High School and plan to attend college often seek additional assistance for their ACT preparation. If you plan to take the ACT shortly, you want to make sure you can prepare for what is about to come.
The thought of preparing and taking the ACT can be intimidating. Varsity Tutors is here to assist you with your test preparation and help relieve some of the stresses that are a common point of contention for test-takers such as yourself. By using collaborative learning, you can directly interact in real time with classmates and your instructor and gain confidence as you prepare for the exam.
The exam is made of five different sections. Depending on the section, you will have a specified time allotment and a number of questions you must answer. You might want to consider sharpening your time management skills to complete your exam within the given time. You want to make sure you answer each question. Do not let the ACT restrain you from possible further educational opportunity. Let's look further into the ACT so you can get an idea of what is to come.
What materials are covered in a Salt Lake City ACT class?
Your Salt Lake City ACT class will provide you with assistance via a knowledgeable approach to understanding ACT material. Though the questions may not be the same as what is on your actual exam, the question types and subject categories covered in the Salt Lake City ACT class remain the same. The ACT categories include an optional Writing section combined with the mandatory categories of Reading, Math, Science, and English. There are two response types you will encounter: multiple choice and passage-based responses. The total test time is just under three hours without counting time for breaks.
One of the five sections that are part of the ACT is Writing, which is optional. This section allows you to display your composition skills. You will be presented with one question and will be given 40 minutes to provide a written essay response. As you write your answer, you will be asked to select one of three given statements, then make a relevant connection between the two. Your Salt Lake City ACT course can assist you in strengthening your composition and writing skills, so you maximize your opportunity to do your best on the writing section of the ACT.
The Reading portion of the ACT requires you to use your critical reading skills combined with your reading comprehension abilities. You are encouraged to use each of the 35 minutes you are allotted wisely in order to answer all of the 40 questions presented within the reading section. You will be asked to respond to multiple-choice and passage-based questions. Topics that are included within the Reading section of the ACT may ask you to differentiate between fact and fiction, summarize ideas found within provided written texts, and showcase your ability to identify multiple types of relationships in writing. It's important to note the questions are created with the common practice of being based on a first-year college curriculum.
Once you begin the Math section of the ACT, you will have questions that include pre-algebra, elementary and intermediate algebra, geometry and trigonometry. The questions are presented to you in multiple-choice formats. It would be wise to review common mathematical concepts, including your ability to read and interpret data from graphs, functions, reliable measurement calculations, and equation interpretation. You will be given 60 minutes to answer all 60 questions.
The Science section is presented in multiple-choice format, and you will be tested on your current knowledge of biology, physics, earth sciences, and chemistry. You have 35 minutes to answer 40 questions. You should consider reviewing concepts that pertain to the designs of experimentation, scientific investigation, and the scientific method.
Just like in the Reading section, the English section of the ACT will present you with a number of questions in multiple choice and passage-based formats. Here you will have the opportunity to display your language skills. Topic development, style, tone, language use, and thought organization are some of the concepts that are tested within the English section of the exam. You will have 45 minutes to answer 75 questions to complete the English portion of the ACT.
What benefits would I receive from taking a Salt Lake City ACT course?
By taking a Salt Lake City ACT course, you will be adding another dimension to your test preparation. The classes are interactive and offer collaboration with other students. ...primary goal is to help students become independent, comfortable, and confident in the fields they are studying. I love helping people get to the "aha" moment when they really understand what's being taught. In my experience, one of the most important parts of tutoring is setting clear expectations at the beginning and working toward a common goal. Given the right goals and assistance, I truly believe that anyone can master any of the subjects I...

...lot of explanation. In most things, I'm not that guy! Like many students, understanding comes with repetition of principles and hard work. I have the perspective of a student trying to understand, not a teacher trying to preach. I love working with people from the ground up; we start at the comfort zone and work our way to improvement. I know I don't know everything, so I'm excited to learn as well!... Start where you are and work up from there. Setting unrealistic expectations from the get-go usually decreases confidence rather than building it.

...valuable tool to have in this day and age where people are coming together from all over the world. I also teach other subjects such as accounting, marketing, and algebra. I hope that I will be able to teach my students in a fun, exciting way so that they will be able to retain this valuable knowledge for years to come. My interests include football, basketball, guitar, wakeboarding, scouting, and other outdoor activities.... I believe that students learn more when they are having fun. In other words, when they enjoy what they are studying they perform at a higher level IN every subject that I teach, I try to make it engaging and interesting for my students in order to create a positive and motivating environment that is conducive to learning.
