What could a Raleigh-Durham SAT Class help me review?
The SAT is made up of three core sections, including Reading, Math, and Writing and Language. You will also have the opportunity to complete the unscored SAT Essay section at the end of the exam. The SAT spans three hours, with an additional 50 minutes allotted to students who opt to complete the SAT Essay. During this time the subject knowledge and test-taking skills you've accumulated throughout high school will be thoroughly tested. Refining these skills with a Raleigh-Durham SAT class can help you approach exam day with confidence and determination. Here we will take a closer look at the different sections of the SAT to give you a better idea of the topics and content you can expect to encounter on test day.
The Reading test will assess your reading comprehension and reasoning skills by asking you to answer questions from written passages that may include tables, charts, or other graphics. Passages may derive from a variety of scholarly sources, such as world literature, sociology or psychology texts, or the United States founding documents, among others. You will be asked to exhibit your command of evidence by illustrating your understanding of how authors present their arguments, identifying relationships between text and accompanying data, and finding evidence in passages that provides the basis for a sound conclusion. You will have 65 minutes to complete 52 questions, making it important to read efficiently and use your trained eye to isolate relevant information.
The Math test is composed of two sections, only one of which allows you to use a calculator. The two sections task you with completing 58 total questions ranging from multiple-choice to write-ins. This section will assess your mathematical fluency, conceptual understanding, and ability to apply mathematics to real-world situations. To succeed, you will need to illustrate strong problem-solving skills, demonstrate your grasp of math concepts, operations, and relations, and represent word-problems mathematically.
The Writing and Language portion of the exam tasks you with solving 44 passage-based questions. Success in this section is dependent upon your ability to improve the way passages develop information and ideas, improve word choice through context clues, express ideas, and make editorial decisions that will enhance provided passages. You will be allotted 35 minutes to read through the provided passages and answer the related questions. Improving your grasp of standard English conventions can help you read and dissect the text more quickly, allowing you to more efficiently complete this section.
The optional SAT Essay asks you to write an essay in which you evaluate the argumentative and persuasive abilities of a text's author. To do this you will need to consider the author's use of evidence, the reasoning used to develop ideas and connect claims, and stylistic and persuasive elements like word choice or appeals to emotion. Your essay should cite one or more of these features as you assess the author's argument.

...because I enjoy it. Education has opened up so many doors for me, and this is largely because I was fortunate to have some amazing teachers growing up who made learning fun (or at the very least not miserable). My goal is to do the same for each one of the students who I work with, and find ways to make even the most abstract concepts or complex math problems "click" in a student's mind.
