What Concepts Can Raleigh-Durham MCAT Prep Help Me Review?

Raleigh-Durham MCAT prep can help you review all of the concepts you will need to know for every section of the test. The MCAT is broken up into four sections. The sections included are Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems, Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills, Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems, and Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior. You will be assessed on many different concepts and skills in each section, so let us provide you with information about each section so you can understand what you will be tested on.

The Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems section is allotted 95 minutes to answer 59 multiple-choice questions that are divided into 10 passage-based sets of questions, and 15 independent questions. This section tests the knowledge you should have acquired in the subjects of intro physics, intro biology, organic and inorganic chemistry, basic biochemistry, and general chemistry. The questions will be about how the many functions of human tissues, organs, and systems relate to laws of physics. You will need a good understanding of the periodic table, basic chemical and physical principles of living systems, the laws of physics, and how chemicals react.

On the Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills section, you will have 90 minutes to answer 9 sets of questions based on passages that, combined, make for a total of 53 multiple-choice questions. You will be tested on your verbal reasoning, reading comprehension, and analytical skills. These questions will use passages that are encountered in the disciplines in the social sciences and the humanities. For this section, you should be able to increase understanding of a text by combining the different components of it. In order to do this, you will first need to be able to identify the basic components of a text. You will also need to be able to take ideas and components from the passage and apply them to a new context. And, finally, you should be able to infer meaning from elements in the passage.

The Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems contains 59 multiple-choice questions that you must answer in 95 minutes. These questions are separated into 15 independent questions and 10 passage-based sets of questions. Understanding how cells and organ systems within an organism exist independently as well as together to successfully grow and reproduce is essential in this section. You will also need to know how those cells and organ systems acquire necessary materials and energy, and how they adapt to different environments. This section focuses on biological and biochemical foundational concepts, as well as reasoning skills, and the unique process of living organisms.

The last section is Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior section which contains 59 questions and is allotted 95 minutes to complete. Again, you will have some passage-based questions and some independent questions. This section requires an understanding of behavior and its changes, how someone sees themselves or others, social and cultural differences that could affect a person's well-being, and how psychological, social, and biological factors play a role in our well-being, and how we react to and perceive things. You will need these skills to be successful at serving an increasingly diverse population. You will also need these skills to understand the presence of human and social issues in the medical field.

The MCAT is a standardized test offered around the U.S. The test is administered at a testing facility and is computer-based. It is used to measure your skills in the areas suggested by medical professionals and students that you need to excel in to be successful in the field of medicine. It is possible that any section may include some experimental questions, but don't worry. Those will not be included in your final score. These questions are inserted just to test for their possible use on future versions of the MCAT. Finally, your score on the MCAT will range from 472-528 and is a combination of your scores on the four sections, with each section's scores ranging from 118-132.
