What Types of Topics Does Orlando GMAT Prep Cover?

The GMAT is a standardized test that is broken up into four sections: Analytical Writing Assessment, Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, and Integrated Reasoning. These sections each test your skills in different areas. You are allowed 3 and a half hours to complete your test, so you must work efficiently through each section to ensure that you are able to answer all the questions. You also have three options of test sequences to choose from. We'll discuss each of the four sections more thoroughly so that you can better understand what you will need to know when you go to take your test.

The Analytical Writing Assessment is an argument analysis. In this section, you will be provided an argument that you must read and evaluate. You will need skills in organizing your ideas and developing them fully. You will need to plan your response, write it, and include relevant support. You are given 30 minutes to complete this section and practicing your skills with a course or tutor might help you improve them. Business schools will know if you are able to identify and analyze important parts of an argument and organize and express your thoughts. This section also shows them your knowledge of writing and your command of written English.

The Verbal Reasoning section is made up of 36 multiple-choice questions, and you are given 65 minutes to answer them. There are 3 types of questions in this section: sentence correction, critical reasoning, and reading comprehension. The sentence correction questions will be underlined parts of the structure, proper grammar, and clear and concise sentence structure. For critical reasoning questions, you will be answering about short passages. You will make and evaluate arguments. For the reading comprehension questions, you will also be answering about written passages. You will be tested to see if you understand words and statements, logical relationships, and if you are able to draw inferences from what you read.

In the Quantitative Reasoning section, you will be tested on two skills: problem-solving and data sufficiency. For problem-solving, you will need to use logical reasoning and analytical reasoning skills to best solve the problem. You will have to solve the problem and then choose the best response from five options. For the data sufficiency questions, you will need to be able to analyze a problem, identify data that is relevant to the problem, and point out at what part you have enough data to come up with a solution to the problem. You will be given a question and then two statements about the question. You will use your math, general knowledge, and reasoning skills to choose when you have enough information to solve the problem. This section is also made up of only multiple-choice questions. You will be allowed 62 minutes to answer the 31 questions.

Lastly, the Integrated Reasoning section consists of answering 12 questions in a 30-minute time period. The question types in this section are Multi-Source Reasoning, Graphic Interpretation, Table Analysis, and Two-Part Analysis. On the multi-source questions, you will use data given to you in the form of graphics, text, tables, and other sources to answer each question. Graphic Interpretation questions require you to identify relationships between data in charts and graphs and make inferences. Table Analysis questions are similar to using spreadsheets to analyze and sort data in a table. You will use the table to identify relevant information that meets the desired conditions. Two-Part Analysis questions will test your ability to evaluate trade-offs, identify relationships between entities from complex problems, and solve several equations. Business schools will have a good understanding of your ability to use multiple sources to analyze information, solve a complex problem, and interpret information given to you in many different forms.
