What can Jacksonville ACT prep cover?
There ACT will evaluate your skill in four academic areas; Math, Reading, English, and Science. You will have just under three hours to complete all four sections of the examination, but not all of the parts are of equal length. Possible scores for each of the four sections range between 1 and 36 points.
You will have 60 minutes to answer 60 multiple choice questions in the Math section of the ACT. The four content areas on this section include pre-algebra, elementary and intermediate algebra, coordinate and plane geometry, and trigonometry. Specific skills you may want to review before taking the ACT include numerical reasoning, graphing and modeling different kinds of expressions, functions, solid measurement and geometric shape calculations, and probabilities.
You will have 35 minutes to answer 40 multiple choice questions on the Reading section of the ACT. You will read a passage and answer questions which test your ability to identify central themes and ideas, summarize those ideas, and understand various types of relationships. You will also need to have an extensive vocabulary, be able to differentiate between facts and opinions, and have the ability to make connections between different texts.
You will have 45 minutes to answer 75 multiple choice questions on the English section of the ACT. The section measures your command of the English language. Some of the concepts you may want to study include sentence structure, style and tone of language, proper punctuation, topic development, and rules of grammar.
You will have 35 minutes to answer 40 multiple choice questions on the Science section of the ACT. You will be evaluated on your knowledge of biology, earth science, space sciences, chemistry, and physics. Some of the concepts you will need to have a broad understanding of include the scientific method and the ability to manipulate and analyze various forms of data.
If you opt to take the ACT Plus Writing, you will be evaluated on all of the previously mentioned sections as well as on your writing competency. You will have 40 minutes to read a prompt and then compose and write your response. The possible range of scores for this section is between 2 and 12.
It's important to keep in mind the time you are given for each individual section of the ACT. Even if you breeze through one part with time left over, you will still only have the designated time for the next section. Learning how to manage your time so that you use every minute wisely is essential in achieving a satisfactory performance. Whether you need help refining your writing technique or reviewing specific subject area concepts, Jacksonville ACT prep can help you work towards your goals.

Group activities make it fun to review the concepts you will need to master for the ACT and discussions can really help you integrate vital concepts and skills. You'll also have the opportunity to discuss especially problematic concepts with your instructor individually.
If you thrive in an interactive classroom setting and realize the benefits of following a structured curriculum, preparing for the ACT in an online classroom may be the right fit for you.
How can a Jacksonville ACT tutor help me?
If you prefer individualized instruction or if you have unique scheduling needs, working with a private instructor may be more beneficial. When you study with a personal tutor, you only focus on the topics you need to review and do not spend time on those items you've previously mastered.
Working with an instructor individually means they have the time to get to know your learning style as well as your academic strengths and weaknesses. Your sessions can be designed with your needs in mind and can be scheduled at a time which is most convenient for you. As with our prep courses, you can utilize an online platform for your sessions, which makes meeting face-to-face online quick and easy.
