Mr. D. was able to keep my daughter engaged and interested the entire session. He made her feel confident with reading. She stated that he was the "best teacher in the world". What year in?

I want to thank VT for connecting me with my English tutor. I'm a 49 yr old that enrolled back in college to complete my degree and I was having the most difficult time meeting the demands of my writing assignments. But fortunately, I was matched with an educator that has made what seemed hopeless in my efforts to write academic papers effectively a piece of cake.

I'm very grateful to have found VT. They made the difference between a pass and fail grade for my son. English was one of his most challenging classes and with Varsity Tutors he passed the course. I'm forever grateful.

Do they have an IEP or 504 plan? (We have tutors that specialize in learning differences)

The tutor that was paired with my daughter was perfect and fits Bella's needs. Bella struggles with attention and has been on a 504 plan for years. The tools used, the interaction and flexibility are priceless. I was hesitant at first but now I'd do it again and I recommend Varsity Tutors!!

The student had a religion assignment on human rights. I first explained what he needed to write about, and then we found a couple articles on the topic. I read through them with him and then he started to write his essay, which I corrected.

English Tutoring review by Cormac in Pittsburgh, PA
Today the student was working after school when I arrived. When he came home we worked on Math for most of the time. He did his homework and we made sure he really understood the median line concept. Then I went over his state test review guide with him. He did well on the review. I reminded him to go over the guide as well as to do his science homework. It was good overall, hopefully he will do well on his state test tomorrow.

English Tutoring review by Brianna in Pittsburgh, PA
The student and I reviewed the last few pieces before his English exam - Patrick Henry's Virginia Convention speech, and Henry David Thoreau's Walden. We dissected each piece, paragraph by paragraph, discussing symbolism and picking out vocabulary words. We also went over Patrick Henry's biography. He feels like he really knows the material, and has reviewed each piece multiple times now. He says he's ready for the test!

English Tutoring review by Jessica in Pittsburgh, PA
The student didn't have any specific essays to work on because he hadn't received his prompts for his final yet, but he did have a very long outline of ideas that the essay will focus on, so we went through the outline and then made notes on important things or keywords that would be good to remember. We're hoping he receives his final essay prompts before we meet next week so we can prep for it. If he doesn't, we'll just work with the outline again.

English Tutoring review by Sherry in Pittsburgh, PA
The student is reading Greek mythology. She understands the relationships between the major Greek gods. She also completed study questions covering the story of Perseus. She is very interested in mythology, and would like to learn more than what was presented in her assigned reading.
