If you're searching for a great Dayton USMLE prep course, Varsity Tutors has you covered. The USMLE (or United States Medical Licensing Exam) is a series of high-stakes tests required by most medical licensing authorities in order to earn a license for the unsupervised practice of medicine in the United States. These exams collectively cover everything you have studied at a medical school such as Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine, meaning that you have a lot of material to review. If you feel like you could benefit from professional assistance to help you sort through it all, contact us today to learn more about the benefits of taking a Dayton USMLE class.
What topics are typically covered in a Dayton USMLE course?
The content covered in a Dayton USMLE class depends on which "Step," or part, of the exam you're studying for. For instance, Step 1 assesses a candidate's familiarity with a broad variety of scientific concepts to see if they have the foundation required to study medicine. If you haven't worked with some of these topics in a while, getting a refresher before your exam could be a good idea.
Step 2 evaluates a candidate's Clinical Knowledge and Clinical Skills in two separate testing sessions. The Clinical Knowledge exam is a multiple-choice test similar to Step 1, except that it's eight hours long instead of seven. Clinical Skills is more of a practical test, as you travel to a hospital and work with patients in a controlled environment. You are graded on how well you collect patient histories, proficiency in spoken English, and how well you can communicate your findings to patients and colleagues alike. If you're concerned that your communication skills may not be up to snuff, you can role-play with your instructor and classmates in an effort to feel more comfortable sharing clinical information.
Step 3 is an exhaustive test generally taken only after a candidate begins postgraduate training. It is administered over two days, with six hours of multiple-choice items on day one and a combination of multiple-choice and computer-based case simulations on day two. The simulations can be overwhelming, as they place you in the role of an attending physician who needs to make health decisions in real time. Your instructor can provide you with some sample cases so that you know what to expect heading into the exam.
What advantages can a Dayton USMLE course offer me?
Every class provided by Varsity Tutors consists of a knowledgeable instructor meeting with a group of students on our proprietary Live Learning Platform. Each instructor undergoes an extensive vetting and interview process, so you can trust that all of the instruction you receive is up-to-date. Our platform also enables you to see and hear your teacher as if you were in the same classroom, creating the illusion that you're in the same room even when you're miles apart.
You can also communicate with all of your classmates through our platform, allowing you to work together and create a learning environment where everyone can pursue their academic goals. If you're having a hard time with a concept such as population health, hearing a peer explain it may make it more relatable than your instructor's take. Similarly, you can explain active reading techniques to a classmate who is struggling to internalize dense medical literature. It may seem counterintuitive, but many students actually find that working in a class makes it easier to learn challenging concepts than studying on their own.
Taking a class also delivers superior value for your money, as multiple people are splitting the cost of instruction. You can book private study time with your instructor if you ever need extra help with something, so there's really no downside to investing in a class.
Best of all, we make attending courses as easy as possible. We offer numerous course sections concurrently, including both two and four-week options to help you find something that fits your busy schedule. Furthermore, new courses start every month so you can get started whenever you're ready. There's also no commute involved, as everything happens online through your favorite mobile device.
