If you're searching for a great Phoenix USMLE class but aren't sure where to turn, Varsity Tutors is here for you. The United States Medical Licensing Exams (or USMLE for short) are a series of high-stakes tests taken by individuals interested in earning a license to practice medicine in the United States. The exams cover everything you would be expected to study at a local medical school such as the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix, so a review is probably a good idea before you sit down for the test. We specialize in taking the hassle out of standardized test prep, so contact us by phone or online today to learn more about the services we can connect you with.
What types of topics can I review in a Phoenix USMLE course?
The USMLE is comprised of three separate tests called Step 1, Step 2, and Step 3. Step 1 is a multiple-choice test measuring a test-taker's knowledge of basic scientific principles. It contains roughly 280 multiple-choice questions divided into seven separately-timed 60-minute blocks, mimicking the long, stressful hours doctors often work. Step 2 is divided into two parts taken on separate days: Clinical Knowledge (316 multiple-choice items split into eight 60-minute blocks) and Clinical Skills (25 minutes for each of 12 patient cases that assess how well you communicate with others). Many students have never been formally tested on their social skills before, so you might want to ask your classroom instructor to role-play with you to give you some experience with the exam's format.
Step 3 is a massive two-day test that is your final obstacle before earning a license for the unsupervised practice of medicine in the U.S. The first day consists of 233 multiple-choice questions divided into six 60-minute blocks. That may not seem as bad as the exams that came before it, but the material covered is specifically medical instead of broadly scientific. The second day is divided into two subsections: 180 multiple-choice items divided into six 45-minute blocks, and 13 computer-based case simulations to evaluate how well you respond to clinical situations. Your instructor can provide sample questions to help you get a feel for the case simulation interface, ensuring that you don't waste any of your precious time on trying to figure out how to do what you need to do.
What are some of the benefits of taking a Phoenix USMLE course?
Each Phoenix USMLE class is taught by a knowledgeable instructor with an excellent understanding of both the USMLE's content and formatting, allowing them to provide a reliable response to any questions you may have. Our exclusive Live Learning Platform makes you feel as though you're in the same room as your teacher, so asking for help is as easy as raising your hand.
You are also free to interact with your peers on our platform, and this is a good thing. If you're struggling with the role that the social sciences play in modern medicine, a classmate's perspective may make more sense to you than something you read in a textbook. You can also explain a concept such as the nervous system to one of your peers who may be having a hard time with it, building upon your own knowledge base in the process. It may seem counterintuitive, but some students find that the collaborative learning environment of studying with others makes it easier to understand key concepts than working on your own.
Working in a group setting also allows you to save money, as you can split the cost of your Phoenix USMLE class instructor with your peers. If you ever feel like you need individualized attention to overcome a particular learning obstacle, you can also ask for private time with your instructor outside of your normal class time.
We understand how busy you are, so we strive to make courses as accessible as possible. Studying online means you never need to worry about the logistical headache of going anywhere and allows you to work wherever you like. We also offer multiple classes concurrently, including both two- and four-week options to make it easier to commit. New sessions start on a monthly basis, so it's always a great time to get started.

I like to be creative and adapt to the learning style of a student. My goal is to make learning fun and never feel like a chore.... Adapt to what kind of learning the student best responds to; that way learning is fun and easy going, and never frustrating.... Get to know each other a bit, in order to know how to approach each topic the best way possible.... I think making different suggestions on how I taught myself, the material could bring some insight to someone in how to go about understanding the topic.
