Calculus Tutoring review by Michael in Pittsburgh, PA
We did practice from sections dealing with product and quotient rules of derivatives. The student's mechanical fluency with these types of problems has become increasingly strong, but he still has some issues on problems requiring a different process to solve.

Calculus Tutoring review by Christie in Pittsburgh, PA
The student and I worked on a packet that involved graphs. He missed the instruction in class about these problems so I did quite a bit of teaching making sure he understood domain and range of a graph and how to express those; how to identify when f(x)>0 and f(x)<0; how to identify the zeros (i.e. X and Y intercepts), etc. We spent quite a bit of time on the first problem and the student was able to do the remaining three problems pretty much on his own.

Calculus Tutoring review by Tarek in Pittsburgh, PA
Today, we discussed derivatives and their application with functions. The lesson started with an explanation of what a derivative is, and ended with the student demonstrating his understanding of a derivative by solving a few problems. We also spent a good amount of time discussing solving for maximums and minimums, inflection points, and real world application of calculus.

We went over limits, infinite limits, tangent of parabola, velocity, how to multiply with conjugate. The student has test coming up so we are making sure we cover all the section on test and he is comfortable with the subject.

Approximations. Marginal vs absolute product values. Finding relative extremes. After going over some homework problems, the student was able to tackle problems of a similar nature on his own. He has a few more topics to go over before his midterm next week, and we are meeting Thurs 10/10 and Wed 10/16 for that purpose.

Calculus Tutoring review by Peter in Pittsburgh, PA
The student and I went over limits in our tutoring session. We looked at several compound functions and determined whether they were continuous or not, and we also determined what the y-value would be as the x-value approached a certain number. The student has a test in one week, and we covered a lot of ground today. He can determine simple limits on his own, and he also has the skills to graph them.
