AP Italian Language and Culture Tutoring FAQ
Advanced Placement (AP) Italian Language and Culture is an excellent way for high school students to take a significant step toward Italian fluency while also potentially earning college credit. However, mastering a new language comes with unique challenges. Are you having trouble in your AP Italian course, despite the time you devote to it both in and out of class? Perhaps your course is proceeding through aspects of Italian vocabulary and grammar too quickly for you to learn them well enough to retain them, or maybe it is not spending enough time helping you improve your conversational skills. Perhaps the way your instructor is presenting the material just does not mesh well with the way in which you learn best. No matter the reason, if your AP Italian class is not addressing your particular concerns, this disconnect can cause you undue stress and frustration when it comes time to start preparing for the AP Italian exam. You do not want to face this important test with potential college credits on the line only to realize that your conversational skills are not up to snuff, especially when speaking skills are an essential part of the basis of your score! Do not face your AP Italian exam without getting the help that can allow you to have complete confidence in your abilities. Varsity Tutors can help you connect with private AP Italian tutoring nationwide. Superb Italian instructors can provide you with the focused attention you need to bolster whatever aspects of Italian you are struggling with in class.
When you first get in touch with Varsity Tutors, our educational directors will guide you in creating a student profile that allows potential tutors to connect with you. Your profile can tell a tutor a great deal of information that will allow them to determine if they can work with you. When you pick a tutor, it is essential that you find one who can teach to your learning style while matching your scheduling needs. In addition, they should be capable of focusing on the content that you need to learn.
Whether you struggle with conjugating Italian verbs or adjusting the way in which you speak based on the formality of your audience, an AP Italian instructor can provide you with assistance in one-on-one tutoring sessions that are custom-tailored to address your specific concerns. Every AP Italian tutor has been vetted to ensure they have the combination of teaching skills and subject knowledge needed to best teach you. Your personal tutor will take your specific academic situation into account in order to help you select the perfect tutor who is best suited for you. Your tutor can then analyze which skills you must improve in order to be prepared for the AP Italian exam. He or she can create a customized lesson plan aimed at addressing those specific skills. In addition, they will ensure that they prepare you for the type of questions you will see and the scenarios you may face.
You can request to have your sessions through in-person tutoring at a location of your choice or with face-to-face online tutoring through our live learning platform. Recent AP Italian Language and Culture Tutoring Session Notes
I gave an a quiz at the beginning of our session that covered the material that we went over from our last session. Also, rather than learning new material, I decided to give her a midterm exam that covers all the material from our very first session to now. Our next session will be a midterm study guide/practice test followed with more review.
Like always, the lesson starts with reviewing the old materials. This time, I taught her more numbers, weekdays and months. The student is very good with numbers, she knows what she is doing. I think she is doing well.
We continued the lesson where we had left off last session. Taught the student new Chinese characters as well as reviewed some old Chinese characters. She remembered most of them. I've started to answer her questions in Chinese and encourage her to answer me in Chinese. She is able to have a simple introduction of herself in Chinese now. I am very happy that she is learning so fast and making a lot of progress!
We worked on some basic daily conversation in Mandarin and numbers 1-10. We practiced on questions such as, "Do you like to drink tea?" "What is your name?" "Where is the restroom?" and how to answer the questions.
The student had a homework packet to complete by tomorrow. He needed help clarifying some of the directions, but for the moat part he understood the assignment very well. He has a good command of Chinese grammar and sentence structure. His major goal right now is memorizing the vocabulary so that he can recall it when he needs it, and memorizing characters as well.
The student is excellent! He is making faster progress than the average students. Our topic has covered 2-3 lessons from his test book. We also go over the basic pronunciation and tones. I am very happy with his great performance.
