We worked on the practice exam that I made for her. She was a little rusty on some concepts, but did it well overall.

Tutoring review by Manuel in Litchfield Park, AZ
We finished reviewing the material for the student's exam tomorrow on conic sections. In particular, we focused on hyperbolas and proving sequences by induction. She was great at working with hyperbolas, but had minor issues identifying information that was not given directly by the equations in the book. I emphasized a few strategies she can use to obtain parameters like semi minor axis, center and a and b. Induction as usual is an abstract topic, but she did not let that deter her. She had difficulties only with the final step in which (k+1) is imputed on both sides of the equation. As long as she remembers to add f (k+1) to both sides NOT just (k+1) she will nail those questions.

This session was small, but the students who attended were engaged and willing to work hard with the material. We focused on long and short vowel sounds, and translating sentences from Spanish into English.

Tutoring review by Robert in Litchfield Park, AZ
We went over determining coterminal angles, triangle representations of trigonometric functions, the unit circle, evaluating trigonometric functions, and converting between degrees and radians. I showed the student a method for evaluating trigonometric functions, knowing just the values of sine, cosine, and tangent of the first quadrant. She is now very confident with each of these.

Tutoring review by Siddharth in Litchfield Park, AZ
This was our first session! The student seems very eager to do well in his algebra class, though he feels like he has harder math classes than he was used to. Luckily, I think he has the drive to do well. We covered exponentials in this session. While he felt comfortable about exponential functions, we had to go over how to look at exponents in general. I spent a lot of time reviewing the rules behind exponents, and made up several problems for him to do. While he had some difficulties, he was able to correctly do the problems by the end after I showed him a couple examples of each rule. I hope he remembers these rules, and retains what we went over in this session!

The session went well. We worked on a translation from the "de bello gallico" which she has a test on tomorrow. I explained to her how to do a translation and where to start from. We also reviewed some verbs.
