Tutoring review by Ivana in Fort Atkinson, WI
During this session the student and I reviewed geometry. We reviewed a worksheet the student had completed on finding missing angles. Initially, she had difficulty with the concepts, but by the end of the session she was confident in what she was doing. I also gave her a couple of problems outside of the homework to work on to have her practice a bit more.

Tutoring review by Jonathan in Fort Atkinson, WI
In this session, the student and I had a chance to move ahead of his class by covering the last section of Chapter 11. This section dealt with rational equations, which incorporated all of the concepts previously covered in the chapter in order to solve for a variable within the problem. We discussed various techniques such as cross multiplication and multiplying by a lowest common denominator. This second method was more complex, so I spent some time describing the shortcut and why it was more useful than individually multiplying each term. The last concept we discussed was that of combined work word problems.

Tutoring review by Christopher in Fort Atkinson, WI
Yesterday, the student and I first studied the theory behind decimals and fractions. In class he is learning about place value and basic decimal notation. The concept is quite easy for him. That being said, we only took a few minutes to review his homework then I began to teach him some more conceptually difficult concepts. We also reviewed his first quiz. The quiz covered order of operations. He has no problem with this concept but he missed 1.5 points because he failed to read the instructions. This problem will be corrected going forward. We also continued our study of algebra. He has no problem solving one and two step equations. So we are no moving onto more complex algebraic equations involving squares and square roots. This will serve him well going forward.

Tutoring review by Jennifer in Fort Atkinson, WI
This session upped the difficulty level with fractions and she rose to the occasion. She was asked to subtract mixed numbers involving carrying and converting whole numbers to fractions. She needed guidance for only the first problem and then was able to apply the concept to the following ones. She learns so quickly!
