We went over the student's much improved, more clear essay and then worked through a math section and a verbal section. She is a creative thinker that finds good ways to remember vocab words so I am confident she will make a lot of progress there.

Tutoring review by Barbara in Circle Pines, MN
Today, the student had more math logic problems from school. We worked on creating a chart to help her predict the continuing outcome of a changing pattern (e.g. 1,3,7,15,__,__). We also worked on reading fluency. She read a passage as fluently as she could, while I timed her and did a word count. She read 100 words in 1 minute, with 2 errors., creating a correct word reading count of 98 words per minute. She then completed the reading and gave an accurate summary of the story.

Tutoring review by John in Circle Pines, MN
Today the student and I covered more on linear equations, specifically in the context of maximizing profit margins. She had a worksheet of three problems and we did the first two together and then she did the last problem by herself to verify that she understood the material. She did well with the last problem and is confident that she understands the material now. She says the class is going much better and that she did very well on a recent test as a result of the tutoring.

Tutoring review by Chris in Circle Pines, MN
The student and I worked on integration during this session. His class is just getting into the topic, so the content was mostly related to the initial workup towards integration. We spent a little time working on Riemann sums and evaluation summations of polynomial functions. Then, we began going over the basic properties of definite integrals, including analyzing them as the limit of a summation. The rest of the session was spent doing problems from his homework set. The vast majority of the problems were quite easy for him, as they simply relied on applying the basic properties of integrals such as distribution and multiplication by a constant. Towards the end of the session, we skipped forward in order to work through an integral-as-limit problem, which was more challenging. Overall, he did not seem to struggle with the material and should be well equipped for the upcoming general integration sections.
