Session Summaries by Trigonometry Tutors

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Sean in Sacramento, CA
We went through the student's review sheet for his upcoming test. As usual, most of the problems were from previous tests, so we focused on problems that were newer and unfamiliar. I wrote a general guide for these problems for Robert to refer to, and he indicated that he comprehended these. We will go over the same problem types today to see if the student can demonstrate understanding without prompt.

The student and I practiced the double-angle, sum, and difference identities extensively tonight. He has become much more comfortable with their usage, and he has even memorized the sine and cosine sum and difference formulas.

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Trisha in Sacramento, CA
In this session, we focused on the trigonometry quiz the student had the following day. It covered the sinusoidal waves of sin x and cos x, finding the period, critical points, amplitude, and vertical/horizontal stretch. He picked up this concept very easily, as most of it consisted of looking at a formula and plugging in values. The quiz should be in a very similar format as the homework we completed, so I'm confident he will do well!

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Ria in Sacramento, CA
The student has a test Thursday, so we spent the time reviewing chapters 5-7 on trig identities, the law of sine/cosine, vectors, systems of equations/inequalities and partial fractions, among other things. We did several examples of each and I think she is ready for her test. The biggest error comes from minor mistakes, so I have cautioned her to keep an eye out for addition errors and when to use sin/cosine, etc.

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Ethan in Sacramento, CA
The student and I spent time covering and reviewing all of his most recent homework assignments and in-class worksheets. Topics covered included sin/cos/tan ratios and their inverses, learning the unit circle, converting radians to degrees and degrees to radians, and short cuts on determining sin/cos/tan of angles. We also addressed several questions he had from some of the math exam practice problems I provided him. He hopes to take this exam during the week, and I have provided him with additional resources and practice problems should he choose to complete them prior to the exam.

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Kimberly in Sacramento, CA
The student and I spent the entire session doing a review for his trigonometry test tomorrow. We covered equations with trig functions, degree-minute-second conversions, quadratic trig equations, and graphing sine and cosine (finding amplitude, frequency, and period of a wave given its equation). He seems to understand the question and how to solve it for the most part. I did notice that he has started asking questions whenever he does not understand a direction or problem, which is a huge improvement and I am very proud of him.
